OKLAHOMA’S BEST FRIENDS AWARD
FOLIO will present two awards in the following amounts to Friends groups that demonstrate exemplary success in
support of their local library in 2014-2015.
 The John Harkey Best Friends Award recognizes a Friends group in a city or town with a population of less
than 10,000. (First place - $500.
 The Oklahoma Best Friends Award recognizes a Friends group in a city with a population in excess of
10,000. (First place - $500)

The committee will use the following criteria for judging all entries:
 Narrative summary describing a major innovative/creative event or series of activities that impacted your
library from Feb. 15, 2014 to Feb. 15, 2015.
 A narrative describing the process used for increasing the involvement of patrons in the local library.
 Use numbers to indicate:
o How the events increased the patronage use of the library?
o How many members of the local community were involved in each event?
 Quality of the narrative and the organization of materials presented in support of your entry.
Entries must be received no later than April 15, 2015. Binders are preferred. Scrapbooks are acceptable. Materials
to include: pictures, videos, newspaper or magazine articles, newsletters, posters, handouts and flyers concerning
events.
All entries submitted will be placed on display at the FOLIO Annual Meeting/Award Luncheon on Friday, May 1,
2015, at the Reed Center in Midwest City, 5800 Will Rogers Road. Entries must be picked up at the conclusion of
the Award Luncheon.
