TheCollegecontractswithU.S.SecurityAssociates,Inc.(USSA)toprovideservicetotheDaemencommunity.TheCampus
SafetydepartmentisoverseenbyaDirectorwhoisemployedbyUSSAandoperatesunderthesupervisionoftheVice
PresidentforStudentAffairs.TrainedCampusSafetyofficerspatrolthecampuswithamarkedvehicle,bikepatrol(during
clementweatheronly)andbyfootpatrolthroughouttheyear.Adirector,dispatch,patrolofficer(s)and/orasupervisor
areonduty24hoursaday.TheofficersarealltrainedandcertifiedaccordingtoNYSLawtodetainindividualsandhold
fortheAmherstPoliceifacriminaloffenseiscommittedoncampus.Officersareadditionallyrequiredtobecertifiedin
CPR,AEDandbasicfirstaid,aswellastheNationalIncidentManagementSystem(NIMS)IncidentCommandSystem.
Officersprovideawalkingescortservicetoandfromcampusbuildingsandparkinglotstostudents,facultyandstaffwho
requestit.Additionally,officersprovideparkingenforcementonthecampus.
DaemenCollegeCampusSafety,throughUSSA,maintainsacloseworkingrelationshipwithWesternNewYorkCampus
LawEnforcementAssociation.Theymaintainup‐to‐dateinformationandassistwithmanytrainingopportunities,crime
preventionmaterials,andprovideassistanceatthestateandlocalpolicelevelssuchasAmherst,Buffalo,and
CheektowagaPoliceDepartments.USSAofferssupportatthesceneofincidentsthatoccurinandaroundthecampus
areas.USSAmanagementandsitesupervisorsmeetwithlocalandstatelawenforcementwhenincidentsarisethat
requirejointefforts,resources,crime‐relatedreportsandexchangesofinformation.
COMMUNITYSTANDARDSANDTHESTUDENTCONDUCTSYSTEM
ThestudentsofDaemenCollegeareviewedasadultsandareexpectedtoconductthemselvesaccordingly.Thenatureof
thecollegeenvironmentrequiresthisview,andvariousrulesandregulationshavebeendevelopedtosupportit.As
adults,DaemenCollegestudentsareresponsible,notmerelytoavoidharmingtheCollegecommunity,butratherto
improveit,supportit,andencourageitsgrowth.
Theadministration,faculty,andstudentsareallmembersoftheCollegeandtogetherconstituteauniqueandself‐
sufficientcommunitywithsharedvalues.UponenteringDaemen,studentsareexpectedtosubscribetothesevaluesand
basetheirconduct—oncampus,off‐campus,andon‐line—uponthosestandardswhichtheDaemencommunityseesas
necessaryfortheproperexerciseofscholarlyendeavor(CodeofConduct).
ThisCodeofConductreflectsgeneralprinciplesofbehavioracceptedbysocietyandbyinstitutionsofhighereducation.It
alsodescribesconductaboutwhichDaemenCollegehasmadespecificstatements,rules,andregulations.
AllDaemenstudents(includingthoseinvolvedinDistanceLearning)areresponsibleforknowingandfollowingtheCode
ofConductandtheotherregulationswhicharepartoftheStudentHandbookandtheCollegeCatalog.TheStudent
HandbookisonlineattheCollege’swebsite.
Administrativestaffatthelevelofdirectorandabovemayrestrictstudentsfromareasoractivitiesundertheir
jurisdiction,pendingresolutionofaspecificdisciplinarycomplaintofferedinwritingtotheVicePresidentforStudent
AffairsandDeanofStudents.

Anyfacultymemberhastheauthoritytorestrictastudentfromaclassroomorotherinstructionalareaforthedurationof
thescheduledinstructionalperiodinwhichaviolationoftheStudentCodeofConducthasoccurred.Facultychairpersons
havetheauthoritytorestrictstudentsfromspecificclasses,otherinstructionalactivities,andfacultyoffices,pending
resolutionofaspecificdisciplinarycomplaintofferedinwritingtotheVicePresidentforStudentAffairsandDeanof
StudentsortheVicePresidentforAcademicAffairsandDeanoftheCollege.
Shouldastudent’spresenceoncampuscreateathreattothesafetyorwell‐beingofothermembersofDaemenCollege
community,theCollegereservestherighttoimmediatelysuspendthatstudentfromcampusuntilthetimeofahearing.
Additionally,theCollegereservestherighttoresolveacaseandsanctionastudent,includingsuspension,withouta
hearingwheresuchactionisdeemednecessaryorappropriatebythePresidentoftheCollege.
NothinginthisCodeofConductprecludesafacultymemberfrompromptlyremovingadisruptivestudentfromhis/her
classroomfortheperiodoftimeneededtoeffectivelyresolvetheissueandensureasafeclassroomenvironmentthatis
conducivetotheacademicstandardsoftheCollege.
JurisdictionoftheCollegeConductSystem
TheCollegeConductSystemwillhearcomplaintsconcerningviolationsofCollegepolicyorregulationswheneverthe
conductinquestionoccursinanyofthefollowingcircumstances:
1. IfitoccursonthecampusorinanyCollegefacility;
2.

IfitoccurswhilethestudentwhoischargedwasattendingorparticipatinginanyCollege‐relatedactivity,
includingbutnotnecessarilylimitedto,studyabroad,fieldtrip,experientiallearningofanykind(including
internships,clinicalplacements,andservicelearning),socialevent,activitysponsoredbyarecognizedstudent
organization;or
Iftheconduct,wheneverandwhereveritoccurs,includingviaonlinemedia,callsintoquestionthestudent’s
suitabilityasamemberoftheCollegecommunity.Unlawfulactsofviolence,violationsofanother’scivilrights,
hazing,theunlawfulsaleorpossessionofdrugs,theunlawfuluseofalcoholicbeveragesandcrimesagainst
personsorproperty,and/orallegedviolentfelonyoffenses,areexamplesofconductthatwillsubjectastudent
totheconductreviewsystemregardlessofwheretheconductoccurs.Incasesinvolvingstudentbehavioral
problemsthatoccuroffcampus,theCollegereservestherighttoinitiatedisciplinaryactionintheinterestof
preservingitsreputationandorderlyfunctioning.Thefactthatastudent’sconductmayalsoconstituteacrime
inviolationoflocal,state,orfederallawdoesnotlimittheabilityoftheCollegetodisciplinethestudentforthat
conduct.TheCollege,therefore,reservestherighttosubmitacomplainttotheconductreviewsystemevenif
thesameconductisormaybecomethesubjectofacriminalcase.
StudentCodeofConduct
Inadditiontothepolicieslistedinvarioussectionsofthestudenthandbook,DaemenCollegeStudentCodeofConduct
outlinesbehaviorsthatareprohibitedattheCollege.Thespecificitemsarenotmeanttoserveasanexhaustivelist,butas
ageneralguidelineforaddressingstudentbehavior.TheCollegereservestherighttoaddressotherbehaviorsthatoccur
thatareconsidereddetrimentaltothelearningenvironmentand/orhealthandsafetyoftheCollegecommunity.
Tothatend,prohibitedbehavioratDaemenCollegeincludesthefollowing:
1. Non‐academicdishonesty,including,butnotlimitedto,theft,attemptedtheft,possessionofstolenproperty,
forgery,andfalsificationofinformationprovidedtoanyCollegeofficial;
a. Lying:anystatement,action,orbehaviorwiththeintenttodeceive.
b. PossessionoruseofafakeID.
c. Stealing:knowinglytakinganitemoritemswithouttheowner’sexpressedpermission.
d. Eludingorevading:anystatement,action,orbehaviorwiththeintentofhidingthetruth,including
runningorhidingfromCollegepersonnel.
e. Aidingandabetting:knowinglyencouraging,assistingandorbeinganaccessorytoanyactprohibited
bytheStudentCodeofConduct.
2. Conductwhichthreatensthephysicalorpsychologicalhealthand/orsafetyofanyperson(includingtheperson
committingtheact)orthesanctityofthecampus,including,butnotlimitedtophysicalorsexualassault;
a. DatingViolence:violence,whetherphysical,sexual,orthethreatthereof,committedbyapersonwho
isorhasbeeninasocialrelationshipofaromanticorintimatenaturewiththevictim.
b. DomesticViolence:afelonyormisdemeanorcrimeofviolencecommittedbyacurrentorformer
spouseorintimatepartner,acohabitatingpartner,oranotherpersonwithwhomthevictimsharesa
child;

SexualAssault/Rape:anoffensethatmeetsthedefinitionofrape,sodomy,sexualassaultwithan
object,fondling,incest,orstatutoryrapeasusedintheFBI’sUCRprogram;
e. Stalking:anyact,whetherviaphone,internet,orphysicalproximity,that,throughunwantedand/or
unsolicitedviewingorcommunicating,threatensanindividual’sphysicaloremotionalsafety.
f. PhysicalAttack.
g. Hazing.
h. Harassment:anyact,whetherwrittenorverbal,viaonlineorinperson,thatabuses,intimidates,or
threatensthesafetyofamemberoftheDaemenCollegecommunity.
i.
Failuretomaintainpersonalhealth,whetherphysical,mentaloremotional,insuchawaythatit
threatensthesafetyandsecurityoftheindividualortheCollegecommunity.
j.
Useorpossessionoffirearms,fireworks,orotherweaponsthatcouldbeconsideredlethal,including
thoseweaponsforwhichthepersonhasapermit.
Damagetoormisuseofpublic,private,personalorCollegeproperty;
a. PropertyDamage,eithertoanindividual’sortheCollege’sproperty.
b. Removingapprovedpostingsand/orOfficeofResidenceLifenoticesorbulletinboards.
c. Littering,applyinggraffiti,and/orotherbehaviorwhichthreatenthecleanlinessandappearanceofthe
College.
d. Useoffireequipment,includingsprinklers,extinguishers,and/orhoses,inanymannerforwhichit
wasnotintended.
e. Defenestration:throwingobjectsoutsideofwindoworfrombalconyorroof.
ViolationofpoliciesasdescribedintheStudentHandbook,theCourseCatalog,theHousingAgreementandall
otherrulesgoverningCollegefacilities,programsandservicesincluding,butnotlimitedtothefollowing;
a. ViolationofResidenceLifepolicies(seeResidentialLivingpoliciessection)
b. Purchase,possession,use,saleordistributionofalcohol,exceptbyconsumersoflegalageandin
compliancewiththeCollege’salcoholpolicy
c. Possessionoruseofalcoholparaphernalia.
d. Distributionorattempteddistributionofalcoholtoanypersonunderthelegaldrinkingage
e. Distributionorattempteddistributionofadrug,includingprescriptionmedication.
f. Illegaluseorpossessionofadrug,includingprescriptionandover‐the‐counterdrugs.
g. Manufacturingofanydrug,includinggrowingmarijuanaforanypurpose.
h. Possessionoruseofillegalorsomeoneelse’sdrugsand/ordrugparaphernalia.
i.
Accessingprohibitedareasintheresidencehalls,includingbutnotlimitedto,fireescapes,balconies,
andbasements,exceptinanemergency.
Intentionalobstructionordisruptionofteaching,research,administration,disciplinaryprocedures,other
CollegeactivitiesoractivitiesauthorizedtotakeplaceonCollegeproperty.
Disorderlyconductincludingactswhichbreachthepeace;
a. Disruptivebehavior.
b. Unauthorizedentry,whetherpeacefullyorbyforce,intoaprohibitedareaorresidencehallapartment
inwhichthereisnodocumentedreasonforbeingpresent.
c. Urinatinginpublic.
Non‐compliancewiththedirectionsofCollegeorcivilauthoritiesperformingofficialduties,includingfailureto
giveproperidentificationwhenrequested.
Violationofastudent’srightsorprivilegesandverbalorwrittenharassment,discrimination,abuseand/or
disrespectofanyperson;
a. Harassment:anyact,whetherwrittenorverbal,viaonlineorinperson,thatabuses,intimidates,or
threatensthesafetyofamemberoftheDaemenCollegecommunity.
b. Actsorabusivelanguage,eitherinpublicorviaonlinesources.
Violationofstatutes,laws,ordinancesand/orregulationsoftheTownofAmherst,StateofNY(orotherstates,
whenapplicable)andtheUnitedStatesofAmerica.

DaemenCollegestrivestomaintainasafecampusandreliesonallmembersofthecampuscommunitytodotheirpartto
keepthecampussafe.Anymemberofthecampuscommunity—faculty,student,staff,trustee—whoobservescriminal
activityontheDaemenCollegemaincampus,oratanyoff‐campusinstructionalsite,isexpectedtoreportsuchconduct
promptlytothepoliceandtoCampusSafetyorbuildingsecurity.Additionally,theCollegehasdesignatedcertain
employeeswhohavesignificantresponsibilityforstudentandcampusactivities,and/ortheauthority/dutytoactor
respondtoaparticularissueonbehalfoftheinstitutionasCampusSecurityAuthorities(CSAs)andResponsiblePersons
uponTitleIXoftheEducationalAmendments(1972).Criminalactivityincludes,butisnotnecessarilylimitedto:physical
assault,includingsexualassaultandabuse,burglary,robbery,arson,unauthorizeddisplayoruseofadangerousweapon,
andtheillegaldistributionormanufactureofcontrolledsubstances.
Ifcommunitymembersobserveacrime,theyareinstructedtophone911immediatelyandfollowtheinstructionsofthe
police.Immediatelyafternotifyinglocalauthorities,itisexpectedthatnotificationswilloccurtotheOfficeofCampus
Safetyat716‐839‐8246(MainCampus),716‐831‐6000(CollegiateVillage),or716‐835‐3366day/716‐860‐4114after
5:00pm(Tri‐MainCenterCampusemergencymonitoringservice).Incaseofanemergencyduringoff‐siteathletic
practicesorgames,studentsaretoreporttotheattendingcoach,assistantcoach,orathletictrainer.Incaseofan
emergencyduringoff‐siteacademicfunction,studentsaretoreporttotheinstructor.Anycrimedirectlyinvolvinga
memberofthecampuscommunity,whetherasvictimorallegedperpetrator,shouldalsobebroughttotheprompt
attentionoftheOfficeofCampusSafety.
Additionally,thereareoccasionswhenminors(personsunder18yearsofage)areontheDaemenCollegecampusor
involvedinCollegeevents.Anypersonwhoobservesthesexualabuseofaminor,orhasareasonablesuspicionofsuch
abuse,areexpectedtoimmediatelynotifyCampusSafetyandthelocalpoliceauthorities(call911).Acallmayalsobe
madetotheNYSChildAbuseHotlineat1‐800‐342‐3720.AnysuchconductinvolvingaDaemenstudentoremployee
shouldalsobebroughttotheattentionoftheOfficeofCampusSafetyand/ortheOfficeofHumanResources.
Thepromptreportingofcriminalactivityisessentialtosecuringasafecampusenvironmentforallpersons,including
guestsandmembersofthepublic.Nooneisexemptfromtheexpectationoflaw‐abidingbehavior.Thereshallbenoform
ofretaliationwithintheDaemenCollegecommunityagainstanypersonmakingagoodfaithreportofsuspectedcriminal
activity.

poseanongoingthreattomembersoftheDaemenCollegecommunity,aSafetyandSecurityAlertissenttoallstudents
andemployeesoncampus.ThealertsaregenerallywrittenanddistributedtotheDaemenCollegecommunitybytheVice

ImmediateNotification
IfthePresident’sCabinetdeterminesthatthereisanemergencyordangeroussituationthatposesanimmediatethreatto
thehealthorsafetyofsomeorallmembersoftheDaemencommunity,theywillusesomeorallofthesystemsdescribed
abovetocommunicatethethreattotheDaemencommunityortotheappropriatesegmentofthecommunity,ifthethreat
islimitedtoaparticularbuildingorsegmentofthepopulation.ThePresident’sCabinetwill,withoutdelayandtakinginto
accountthesafetyofthecommunity,determinethecontentofthenotificationandinitiatethenotificationsystem,unless

Education
DaemenCollegehasaTaskForcethatmeetsoncepermonthduringtheyeartodiscussandplanwellnesseducation
programmingandawarenessthroughouttheyear.Thefocusofthiscrosscampuscollaborationcomprisedoffaculty,staff,
students,andoutsideagencies,andchairedbytheVicePresidentforStudentAffairs,istoexaminehealthywaysto
addresssubstanceabuse,dating/domesticviolence,andotherwellnessissuesinaconcertedandintentionalmanner.
Allnew,incomingstudents,includingfirst‐yearstudents,transfers,andgraduates,arerequiredtocompletetheThink
AboutItprogrambyCampusClarity.ThinkAboutItcombinessexualassaultandsubstanceabusepreventionina

comprehensiveonlinetrainingprogram.Studentsandtheirfamiliesareprovideddetailedinformationaboutthis
programduringsummerorientationprogramsandaresentnumerousremindersthroughoutthesummerinpreparation
forthestartofthesemester.Studentswhofailtocompletetheprogramaresubjecttoafine.Additionally,theCollege
hostsasessionduringsummerorientationondating,datingviolence,andsexualassaultprevention.Studentarealso
highlyencouragedtoattendtheannualONENIGHTtheatricalpresentationregardingacquaintancerapeandalcohol
consumption.
Campussafetyandfiresafetyproceduresarediscussedduringresidentassistanttrainingandresidencehallfloor
meetings.PossiblesanctionsforstudentsincludeasessionwiththeCollege’sdrugandalcoholcounseloraswellasonline
alcoholanddrugawarenesscourses.Newstudentsareprovidedwitha“RighttoKnow”informationregardingTitleIX
andsexualviolence,aswellastheCampusSexualAssaultVictim’sBillofRights,incompliancewithfederalandstate
guidelines.Thelatterisalsopostedinalloftheresidencehalls,includingthoserentedbytheCollegeatCollegiateVillage
andHomewoodSuites,andkeystudentlifeareassuchastheWickStudentCenter.TheTitleIXcoordinatoralsoposts
“RighttoKnow”informationthroughoutthecampus.Advisorylettersaresenteachsemestertostudentswithdisabilities
requestingassistanceincaseofemergency,advisingthemofevacuationpoliciesandprocedures.Athleticsrequiresits
athletestoparticipateinadditionalalcoholawarenessprogramming.HumanResourcessendsoutanannualemailto
employeesregardingonlinesexualharassmenttraining.Aspreviouslynoted,annualCSAnotificationandtrainingis
coordinatedbytheVicePresidentforStudentAffairsandDeanofStudents.Additionally,campusevacuationand
emergencyresponseproceduresarepostedthroughoutcampus,ineachofficeandclassroom.
CrimePreventionMeasures
Moston‐campuscrimecanbepreventedifrulesarefollowedandcommon‐sensesafetytipsareobserved.TheCollege’s
missioncommitstheinstitutiontotheeliminationofcrimeandtheattendantsufferingofthevictimsofcrime.Thiscanbe
accomplishedbyteachingstudentsandthecommunityhowtoreducetherisksofcrimesagainstthemselvesandothers.
Whennecessary,theCollegewillprovidetimelyannouncementsofon‐campuscriminalactivitythathasbeenreportedto
CampusSafetyorthepolice.Studentsandemployeesareprovidedproceduresandpracticesregardingsafetyatresident
assistanttraining,residentfloormeetings,aswellasthroughapplicablehandbooks(faculty,staff,administration,and

reportingstudentconcerns.TheCollegealsoconductsregulareventsthroughclubsandorganizationsthatfocuson
awareness,acceptance,andcreatinganenvironmentthatisfreeofhostility.Additionally,theCollegeconductssemi‐
annualfiredrillsandtabletopexercisesfortheEmergencyResponseTeam,aswellasregulartestsofthetextalert

SEXUALVIOLENCEANDASSAULT(INCLUDINGSEXUALHARASSMENT)
Afterresponsibilityhasbeenassignedthroughinvestigationandhearing,asoutlinedintheConductReviewprocedures
(Section7)oftheStudentHandbook(www.daemen.edu/studenthandbook),allperpetratorsofsexualassaultwillbe
aggressivelysanctioned,inaccordancewiththestandardsoutlinedbytheStudentCodeofConduct.TheCollegewillwork
inclosecooperationwithlocallawenforcementagenciestoaddressthisseriouscriminalactivity.DaemenCollegewill
thoroughlyinvestigatethisviolationofindividuals'rightsandsafetywhenreported.Inaddition,theCollegemay
terminatetheenrollmentand/oremploymentofanyperpetratorofsexualassault,includingsummarilysuspendingthe
violatortoprotecttheCollegecommunity.Theinstitutionwillchangeavictim’sacademicandlivingsituationsafteran
allegedsexoffenseifthesechangesarerequestedbythevictimandarereasonablyfeasible.
Studentsareprovidedwitheducationalprogrammingtopromotetheawarenessofsexualviolencepreventionas
indicatedpreviouslyinthisreport.Informationisprovidedtothecampuscommunitythroughnewstudentorientation,
residentassistanttraining,residentstudenteducationprogramming,aswellasthroughapplicablehandbooks(faculty,
staff,administration,andstudent).
PossibleSanctions/Appeals
Incidentsofsexualviolence,datingviolence,domesticviolence,stalkingand/orsexualassaultaretakenveryseriouslyby
DaemenCollege.Uponcompletionofathoroughinvestigationandhearing,asoutlinedintheStudentCodeofConduct,a
studentwhoisfoundresponsibleforsuchacrimecouldfacesuspensionorexpulsion.Investigationsthatarehandled
informallymayresultintheuseof“educationalsanctions”asdeemedappropriatebythematterandinconsultationwith
theTitleIXCoordinator.Astudentmaynotbefoundresponsibleforoneofthecrimesmentionedabove,butmaybe
foundresponsibleforotherviolationsoftheCodeofConductwhichcouldincuradditionalsanctionsandfines,asoutlined
inthestudenthandbook.TheCollegewillimposeinterimsanctionssuchasOrderofNoContact,PersonaNonGrata
Orders,roomassignmentchanges,etcetera,inordertoensurethesafetyofthecommunityandtheindividualreporting,
without“punishing”thestudentwhocameforward.Inmattersthatarebeingaddressedconcurrentlythroughthe
criminaljusticesystem,wherearespondentisadvisedtonotparticipateinthecampusprocess,orwhereitseems
appropriatebythecircumstancesoftheincidentasdeterminedbytheVicePresidentforStudentAffairsand/orhis/her
designee,theCollegemayplaceastudentoninterimsuspensionpendingtheopportunitytocompletetheinvestigation
andconductprocess.
Boththecomplainantandrespondenthavetheabilitytoappealsanctionsbasedonthecriteriaoutlinedinthestudent
handbook.InaccordancewithNewYorkStateLaw,appealsofincidentsofsexualviolence,datingviolence,domestic
violence,stalkingand/orsexualassaultwillbeheardbyapanelascoordinatedbytheOfficeoftheVicePresidentfor
StudentAffairsinconjunctionwiththeTitleIXCoordinator.
Theinstitutionwill,uponwrittenrequest,disclosetotheallegedvictimofacrimeofviolenceoranon‐forciblesex
offense,thereportontheresultsofanydisciplinaryproceedingconductedbytheinstitutionagainstastudentwhoisthe
allegedperpetratorofsuchcrimeoroffense.Iftheallegedvictimisdeceasedasaresultofsuchcrimeoroffense,thenext
ofkinofsuchvictimshallbetreatedastheallegedvictimforpurposesofthisparagraph.
Consent
DaemenCollegedefinesconsentas“affirmativeconsent”(yesmeansyes),inaccordancewiththeNewYorkStateEnough
isEnoughlegislation.Affirmativeconsentisaknowing,voluntary,andmutualdecisionamongallparticipantstoengage
insexualactivity.Consentcanbegivenbywordsoractions,aslongasthosewordsoractionscreateclearpermission
regardingwillingnesstoengageinthesexualactivity.Silenceorlackofresistance,inandofitself,doesnotdemonstrate
consent.Thedefinitionofconsentdoesnotvarybaseduponaparticipant'ssex,sexualorientation,genderidentity,or
genderexpression.Consentmaybeinitiallygivenbutwithdrawnatanytime.Whenconsentiswithdrawnorcannotbe
given,sexualactivitymuststop.Consentcannotbegivenwhenapersonisincapacitated.Incapacitationoccurswhenan
individuallackstheabilitytofully,knowinglychoosetoparticipateinsexualactivity.Incapacitationincludesimpairment
duetodrugsoralcohol(whethersuchuseisvoluntaryorinvoluntary),thelackofconsciousnessorbeingasleep,being

involuntarilyrestrained,ifanyofthepartiesareundertheageof17,orifanindividualotherwisecannotconsent.Consent
cannotbegivenwhenitistheresultofanycoercion,intimidation,force,orthreatofharm.
CampusSexualAssaultVictims’BillofRights
InaccordancewiththeCampusSexualAssaultVictim’sBillofRights(1992)andsection485oftheHigherEducationAct
of1965(revised2010),aswellasguidelinesprovidedbyNewYorkState,DaemenCollegehasimplementedthefollowing
billofrightsthatshallbeaffordedtoallvictimsofreportedcampus‐relatedsexualassaults.Theserightshavebeen
adaptedforDaemenCollegefromthelanguageusedintheHigherEducationActandaredescribedinmoredetail
throughoutthissection.
1. Therighttohaveanyandalldisclosuresofdomesticviolence,datingviolence,stalking,andsexualassault
againstthemtreatedwithseriousnessandreceive,fromtheinstitution,courteous,fair,andrespectfulhealth
careandcounselingservices,whereavailable.
2. Therighttohavesexualassaultscommittedagainsttheminvestigatedandadjudicatedbythedulyconstituted
criminalandcivilauthoritiesofthegovernmentalentityinwhichthecrimesoccurred,ifthevictimsochooses,
includingmakeareporttolocallawenforcementand/orthestatepolice;andtherighttothefullandprompt
cooperationandassistanceofCollegestaffinnotifyingtheproperauthorities.Theforegoingshallbeinaddition
toanycampusdisciplinaryproceedings.
3. TherighttobefreefromanykindofpressurefromCollegestaffthatvictims:
a. notreportcrimescommittedagainstthemtocivilandcriminalauthoritiesortocampussafetyand
residencelifestaff;or
b. reportcrimesaslesseroffensesthanthevictimsperceivethemtobe.
4. Therighttobefreefromanykindofsuggestionthatsexualassaultvictimsnotreport,orunder‐report,crimes
because:
a. victimsaresomehow‘responsible’forthecommissionofcrimesagainstthem;
b. victimswerenegligentorassumedtheriskofbeingassaulted;or
c. byreportingcrimestheywouldincurunwantedpersonalpublicity.
5. Therighttoparticipateinaprocessthatisfair,impartial,andprovidesadequatenoticeandameaningful
opportunitytobeheardandinsodoing,todescribetheincidenttoasfewinstitutionrepresentativesas
practicableandnotberequiredtounnecessarilyrepeatadescriptionoftheincident;
6. Thesamerighttolegalassistance,orabilitytohaveotherspresent,includinganadvisoroftheirchoice,inany
campusdisciplinaryproceedingthattheinstitutionpermitstotheaccused;andtherighttobenotifiedofthe
outcomeofsuchproceeding.
7. Therighttocounselingservicesfromanymentalhealthservicespreviouslyestablishedbytheinstitution,orby
othervictim‐serviceentities,orbyvictimsthemselves.
8. Aftercampussexualassaultshavebeenreported,thevictimsofsuchcrimesshallhavetherighttorequirethat
appropriateCollegestafftakethenecessarystepsoractionsreasonablyfeasibletopreventanyunnecessaryor
unwantedcontactorproximitywithallegedassailants,includingimmediaterelocationofthevictimtosafeand
securealternativehousing,andtransferofclassesifrequestedbythevictims.
9. Accesstoatleastonelevelofappealofadetermination;
10. Therighttoreportanyinappropriateaction,orlackthereof,inthehandlingofareportedsexualassaultonthe
partoftheCollegeasaTitleIXcomplaint.
11. Beprotectedfromretaliationbytheinstitution,anystudent,theaccusedand/ortherespondent,and/ortheir
friends,familyandacquaintanceswithinthejurisdictionoftheinstitution;
12. Exercisecivilrightsandpracticeofreligionwithoutinterferencebytheinvestigative,criminaljustice,or
conductprocessofDaemenCollege.
Additionally,andinaccordancewiththeSaVEprovisionoftheViolenceAgainstWomenAct(VAWA),theCollegewill
workwiththestudenttoensurethathe/sheisabletocontinuetheirstudiessafelywhilethematterisaddressed.This

PolicyProhibitingSexualHarassmentandOtherUnlawfulHarassment
A. Purpose.DaemenCollegeiscommittedtoofferingeducationalandemploymentopportunitybasedonabilityand
performanceinaclimatefreeofdiscrimination.Discriminationisprohibitedatthisinstitutionnotonlybecauseit
isunlawful,butbecauseitiswrong.PleaserefertotheCollege’sPolicyonNondiscrimination,EqualOpportunity,
andAffirmativeActionforacomprehensivestatementoftheCollege’scommitmentinthisregard.Amongthe
formsofdiscriminationprohibitedbytheCollegeisunlawfulharassment,includingsexualharassment,by
employeesasdiscussedinthispolicy.Inaddition,theCollegewillendeavortoprotectstudentsandemployees,to
theextentpossible,fromreportedharassmentattheCollegeandintheworkplacebystudents,vendors,orother

B. DefinitionofTerms.Forthepurposeofthispolicytermssuchassexualharassment,discrimination,and
retaliationaredefinedpursuanttotheapplicablestateandfederallaw.
C. SexualHarassment.ItisthepolicyofDaemenCollegenottodiscriminateonthebasisofsex,includingsexual
harassment,initseducationalprograms,activitiesoremploymentpoliciesasrequiredbyTitleIX,Education
Amendmentsof1972,EqualEmploymentOpportunityCommissionregulations,andotherapplicable
antidiscriminationlaws.
Sexdiscriminationintheformofharassmentonthebasisofsexincludesunwelcomesexualadvances,requestsforsexual
favors,andotherverbalorphysicalcontactofasexualnaturewhen:a)submissiontosuchconductismadeeither
explicitlyorimplicitlyatermorconditionofanindividual’semploymentoreducationstatus;orb)submissiontoor
rejectionofsuchconductbyanindividualisusedasthebasisforeducationaloremploymentdecisionsaffectingsuch
individuals;orc)suchconducthasthepurposeoreffectofunreasonablyinterferingwithanindividual’sperformanceor
creatinganintimidating,hostile,oroffensiveworkingoreducationalenvironment.DaemenCollegewilltakeallsteps
necessarytopreventsuchdiscriminationandeffectivelyaddressincidentsofunlawfulharassment,includingthe
impositionofappropriatesanctions.Asexamples,thefollowingkindsofconduct,orotherswithasimilarharassingeffect,
areabsolutelyprohibitedifsuchconductfallswithinthedefinitionstatedabove:
1. Abusinganemployeeorstudentthroughinsultingordegradingsexualremarks,jokes,innuendoes,orother
sexuallyorientedconduct(including,amongotherthings,graphicordescriptivecommentsrelatingtoan
individual’sbodyorphysicalappearance,sexuallyorientedteasingorpranks,impropersuggestions,objectsor
pictures,orunwantedphysicalcontact);or
2. Threats,demandsorsuggestionsthatanemployee’sorstudent’sstatusdependsinanywayupontoleratingor
acceptingsexualadvancesorsexuallyorientedconduct.
3. Sexualviolence,definedasphysicalsexualactsperpetratedagainstaperson’swillorwhereapersonis
incapableofgivingconsentduetothevictim’sage,useofdrugsoralcohol,orintellectualorotherdisability.
AnyharassmentofDaemenCollegeemployees,students,orapplicants,orthirdparties(suchasparticipantsinCollege
sponsoredevents)inviolationoftheserulesisabsolutelyprohibitedandwillnotbetolerated.Interimprotective
measuresmaybemadewhileacomplaintisinvestigated.Bothcomplainantandrespondentshallbetreatedequitably
throughouttheinvestigation.
Conductthatoccursoffcampus,includingbutnotlimitedtothatperpetratedelectronically,bysocialnetworkingoremail,
isalsosubjecttoinvestigationandanappropriateresponseunderthePolicytotheextentthatsuchconductcontributes
toasexuallyhostileenvironmentoncampus.
Sexualharassmentisillegalunderbothstateandfederallaw.InquiriesregardingcompliancewithTitleIXandallother
stateandfederaldiscriminationlawsmaybedirectedtotheAssociateVicePresidentforAcademicAffairs(DS102,
716.839.8301),whoistheCollege’sEqualOpportunityandAffirmativeActionOfficerandTitleIXCoordinator.
D. OtherUnlawfulHarassment.Unlawfulharassmentisdefinedasverbalorphysicalconductwhichdenigratesor
showshostilityoraversiontoanindividualbecauseofhisorhersex,sexualorientation,gender,race,color,
creed,religion,veteranormilitarystatus,nationalorigin,age,disability,maritalstatus,domesticviolencevictim
status,statusasanex‐offender,arrestrecord,predisposinggeneticcharacteristicsorgeneticinformation,orany
othercharacteristicprotectedbyfederalorNewYorkStatelaw,orthatofhisorherrelatives,friends,or
associates,andwhich:
1. Hasthepurposeoreffectofcreatinganintimidating,hostile,oroffensiveworkingoreducational
environment;or
2. Hasthepurposeoreffectofunreasonablyinterferingwithanindividual’sperformance;or
3. Otherwiseadverselyaffectsanindividual’semploymentoreducationalopportunities.
Asexamples,thefollowingkindsofconduct,orotherswithsimilarharassingeffect,areabsolutelyprohibitedifsuch
conductfallswithinthedefinitionstatedabove:
1. Abusinganemployeeorstudentthroughepithets,slurs,negativestereotyping,orthreatening,intimidating
orhostileacts(evenifclaimedtobe“jokes”or“pranks”)whichrelatetosex,sexualorientation,gender,
race,color,creed,religion,veteranormilitarystatus,nationalorigin,age,disability,maritalstatus,domestic
violencevictimstatus,statusasanex‐offender,arrestrecord,predisposinggeneticcharacteristicsor
geneticinformation,oranyothercharacteristicprotectedbyfederalorNewYorkStatelaw;and
2. Writtenorgraphicmaterialwhichdenigratesorshowshostilityoraversiontowardanindividualorgroup
becauseofsex,sexualorientation,gender,race,color,creed,religion,veteranormilitarystatus,national
origin,age,disability,maritalstatus,domesticviolencevictimstatus,statusasanex‐offender,arrestrecord,

predisposinggeneticcharacteristicsorgeneticinformation,oranyothercharacteristicprotectedbyfederal
orNewYorkStatelaw.
AnyharassmentofDaemenCollegeemployees,studentsorapplicantsinviolationoftheserulesisabsolutelyprohibited
andwillnotbetolerated.
E. Retaliation.Retaliationagainstemployees,students,thirdparties(suchasparticipantsinCollegesponsored
events)orapplicantsforexercisingtheirrightsunderthispolicyisalsostrictlyprohibitedandwillnotbe
tolerated.Thisincludesretaliationagainstemployees,students,thirdparties(suchasparticipantsinCollege
sponsoredevents)orapplicantsforinquiringabouttheirrights,orformakinganhonestcomplaintofaviolation
orpossibleviolation,orfortruthfullyassistinginacomplaintinvestigation.Claimsofretaliationshouldbe
reportedtotheAssociateVicePresidentforAcademicAffairs(DS102,716.839.8301),whoistheCollege’sEqual
OpportunityandAffirmativeActionOfficerandTitleIXCoordinator.
F. NoOneHasAuthorityToViolateThisPolicy.Undernocircumstancesdoesanyfacultymember,administrator,
trustee,otheremployee,orstudentoftheCollegeoranyotherperson,includingvendorsandsub‐contractors,
haveanyauthoritywhatsoevertoengageindiscriminatory,harassing,orretaliatingconductinviolationofthis
policy.Ifanyoneclaimstohavesuchauthority,orifanemployee,student,thirdparty(suchasparticipantsin
Collegesponsoredevents)orapplicanthasaquestionaboutwhetherobjectionableconductisauthorizedbythe
College,theCollege’sEqualOpportunityandAffirmativeActionOfficerandTitleIXCoordinator(DS102,
716.839.8301),shouldbecontacted.
G. AcademicFreedom.Asaninstitutionofhighereducation,DaemenCollege,itsemployeesandstudentsalsomust
beawareoftheneedforfreedomofinquiryandopennessofdiscussioninitseducationalandresearchprograms,
andmuststrivetocreateandmaintainanatmosphereofintellectualseriousnessandmutualtoleranceinwhich
theseessentialfeaturesofacademiclifecanthrive.Nocollegecanorshouldguaranteethateveryideaexpressed
initsclassroomsorlaboratorieswillbeinoffensivetoall;pursuedseriously,educationandscholarship
necessarilyentailraisingquestionsaboutreceivedopinionsandconventionalinterpretations.DaemenCollege
doesguarantee,however,thatcredibleaccusationsofinappropriateremarksorconductthatmayviolatethe
Collegepolicyprohibitingdiscriminationandharassmentwillbeinvestigatedpromptly,thoroughly,andfairly.
H. Procedures.Employees,students,andapplicantsareencouragedtopromptlyreportanyconductthatthey
believeviolatesthispolicy.IftheCollegedoesnotknowabouttheconduct,itcannotact.Complaintsorinquiries
shouldbemadeconfidentiallytotheAssociateVicePresidentforAcademicAffairswhoistheCollege’sEqual
OpportunityandAffirmativeActionOfficerandTitleIXCoordinator.Inthecaseofstudent‐on‐studentconduct,
complaintsorinquiriesshouldbemadeconfidentiallytotheVicePresidentforStudentAffairsandDeanof
Students(WickCenter,716.839.8519)forinvestigationandadjudicationundertheStudentConduct
(Disciplinary)ProceduresoutlinedintheStudentHandbook.TheVicePresidentforStudentAffairsandDeanof
StudentswillreportanyallegationsofTitleIXviolationtotheAssociateVicePresidentofAcademicAffairs.
Alternatively,anindividualmayinitiallydiscussthematterwithanyotheremployeeoftheCollege,orinvolveany
otherpersontohelpinbringingthecomplaintforward,providedthecomplaintispromptlybroughttothe
attentionoftheAssociateVicePresidentforAcademicAffairsorDeanofStudents,toensureconsistencyand
centralizeddecision‐makingintheapplicationofthispolicy.Complaintsmayalsobemadeanonymouslythrough

DiscriminationandharassmentcomplaintswillbehandledpursuanttotheGrievanceProcedureinDiscriminationand
HarassmentCasesorStudentConduct(Disciplinary)Proceduresasapplicable.Ordinarily,theVicePresidentforStudent
AffairsandDeanofStudentswillinvestigatecomplaintsofstudent‐on‐studentharassment;theAssociateVicePresident
forAcademicAffairs,asEO/AAOfficer,willinvestigateanycomplaintsinvolvingemployees.Complainantswillbe
encouragedtoexpresstheirwishesforresolutionofthematter.Complainantsofsexualviolenceshallbeentitledto
necessaryinterimactionstoprotectthem.Whencomplainantandrespondentarebothmembersofthecampus
community,interimmeasureswillbetakentoensuresafetyandequitabilityduringtheinvestigation.Boththe
complainantandtherespondentshallhaveequalopportunitytopresentrelevantevidenceandtoappealdeterminations
asprovidedforintheabovepolicies.Boththecomplainantandtherespondentwillreceiveinwritingtheoutcomeofthe
investigation.
Complaintsandinquirieswillbekeptconfidentialtotheextentpracticable,consistentwiththeneedtoconductan
adequateinvestigation.Reasonablestepswillbetakentohonoraparty’srequestregardingconfidentialityand/orpursuit
ofinvestigation,butsuchrequestsmustalsobeevaluatedinthecontextoftheCollege’sresponsibilitytoprovideasafe
andnondiscriminatoryenvironmentforallpersonsand/ortowarntheCollegecommunityofpossibledanger.The
Collegewillinformthepartiesifconfidentialitycannotbeensured.Anyemployeeorstudentwhoisfoundtohave
violatedthispolicywillbesubjectedtoappropriatedisciplinarymeasuresuptoandincludingterminationorexpulsion.

IndividualswithcomplaintsofdiscriminatoryharassmentmayalsohavetherighttofileacomplaintwiththeOfficefor
CivilRights(OCR)oftheU.S.DepartmentofEducation.Anemployeemayalsohavetherighttofileachargewiththe
UnitedStatesEqualEmploymentOpportunityCommission(“EEOC”),theOfficeofCivilRights(“OCR”),ortheNewYork
DivisionofHumanRights(“SDHR”).AchargeshouldbefiledwiththeEEOCwithin300daysofthemostrecentdatethat
theunlawfulconductoccurred,oriffiledwiththeOCR,within180days,oriffiledwiththeSDHR,withinone(1)year.
ReportingtotheCollegeiscritical,however,becauseiftheCollegedoesnotknowabouttheconduct,itcannotact.
NooneshouldallowconductthatmayviolatethisPolicytocontinueunreported.Itisextremelyimportantthatthisbe
reportedsothattheCollegecanacttostopsuchconductattheearliestpossibletime.DaemenCollegeprovidestraining
foremployeesonrecognizingandpreventingunlawfulharassment,includingsexualharassment:allemployeesare
expectedtoparticipateinsuchtraining.
GrievanceProcedureinDiscriminationandHarassmentCases
A. Policy.ItisthepolicyofDaemenCollege,inaccordancewithfederalandstatelawsincluding,butnotlimitedto,
TitleIXoftheEducationAmendmentsof1972,theCivilRightsActof1964,theRehabilitationActof1973,the
AgeDiscriminationinEmploymentAct,theAmericanswithDisabilitiesActandtheNewYorkStateHuman
RightsLaw,nottodiscriminateonthebasisofsex,sexualorientation,gender,race,color,creed,religion,veteran
ormilitarystatus,nationalorigin,age,disability,maritalstatus,domesticviolencevictimstatus,statusasanex‐
offender,arrestrecord,predisposinggeneticcharacteristicsorgeneticinformation,oranyothercharacteristic
protectedbyfederalorNewYorkStatelawagainstanypersonwithrespecttoemployment,admissiontothe
College,orinparticipationinanyCollegeprogramoractivity.Alsoinaccordancewiththeselaws,itisthepolicy
oftheCollegetoprohibitharassmentofanystudent,employeeorapplicantonthebasisofthestatusesoutlined
above.Allcomplaintsallegingaviolationofthispolicywillbeinvestigatedandappropriateremedieswillbe
instituted.
B. Responsibility.EverypersonintheCollegecommunityisresponsibleforcompliancewiththispolicy.The
AssociateVicePresidentforAcademicAffairsastheEqualOpportunityandAffirmativeActionOfficerhasbeen
givenday‐to‐dayresponsibilityforimplementingthispolicy.
C. Grievances.AllgrievancesorcomplaintsallegingaviolationoftheCollege’snondiscriminationpolicyand
policyprohibitingunlawfulharassmentshouldbesubmittedtotheAssociateVicePresidentforAcademic
AffairswhoistheEqualOpportunityandAffirmativeAction(EOAA)OfficerandTitleIXCoordinator(RoomDS
102,716.839.8301).GrievanceformsareavailableintheofficeoftheEOAAOfficer,butanyformorformatmay
beusedprovideditisidentifiedasagrievance.Agrievanceshouldcontainastatementofthefactsidentifying
theviolationandasmuchsupportingdocumentationaspossible.Uponrequest,assistanceinpreparingthe
grievancewillbesuppliedbytheEOAAOfficer/TitleIXCoordinator.Thosefilingagrievanceshouldalsoexpress
theirviewofapossibleresolutiontotheproblem.Agrievanceshouldbefiledassoonaspossibleafterthe
allegeddiscriminationhasoccurred(usuallywithin30days).Adelayinfilingagrievancemayimpacttheability
oftheCollegetoinvestigateandresolvethegrievance.
D. GrievanceProcessing
1. Step1.TheEOAAOfficer/TitleIXCoordinatorwillattempttoresolvethematterassimplyandasquicklyas
possiblebyinformallymeetingwiththerelevantpersonsinanefforttoreachanacceptableagreement.Ifthe
complaintinvolvesanallegedsexualassault,thematterwillimmediatelyproceedtoStep2below;no
informalmediationwillbeundertaken.Casesofallegedsexualassaultinwhichboththecomplainantand
respondentarestudentswillfollowtheproceduresoutlinedintheStudentCodeofConduct
2. Step2.UnlessanacceptableresolutionisreachedinStep1,thegrievantmayrequestthatthematterbe
referredtotheappropriateCabinetmember(VicePresidentforAcademicAffairs[VPAA]inthecaseofa
facultygrievant)foramoreformalinvestigation.Suchrequestmaybemadeatanytime,butnotlaterthan
ten(10)daysafternotificationthattheStep1procedureiscompleted.Withinthirty(30)daysthereafter,the
CabinetmemberorVPAAorhis/herdesignatedrepresentative(GrievanceOfficer)willconductan
investigationwithrespecttothegrievance.(ShouldthegrievancebeagainsteithertheEOAAOfficer/TitleIX
CoordinatorortheCabinetmember,thegrievantshouldnotifytheDirectorofHumanResourceswhowill
arrangeforanotherGrievanceOfficertobeappointed.)Effortswillbemadetocompletetheinvestigation
within45daysafterStep2isinitiated.
Duringtheinvestigation,thegrievantshallhavetherighttopresentevidenceandwitnesses.TheGrievanceOfficerwill
alsoexamineotherrelevantevidenceandwitnesses,includingprofessionalswhereappropriate.TheGrievanceOfficer
shallrenderawrittendecisiononthegrievanceapplyingapreponderanceoftheevidencestandard.Acopyofthe
decisionwillbeprovidedtothegrievantandaccusedparty(ies).EitherpartymayseekreviewbytheCollegePresidentof

allorpartoftheGrievanceOfficer'sdecisionbyfilinganappealwiththeOfficeofthePresidentwithin10daysafterthe
decisionisrendered.ThePresidentinconjunctionwithlegalcounselfortheCollegewillreviewthedecisiontodetermine
whetheritissupportedbysubstantialevidenceandthattheCollegesubstantiallycompliedwithapplicableprocedures.
ThePresident'sdecisionwillberenderedwithin30daysoffilingtheappeal.ThePresidentmayaffirmthedecision,
modifythedecision,orreturnthematterforfurtherinvestigation.ShouldthePresidentbetheaccusedparty,theappeal
willbemadetotheExecutiveCommitteeoftheBoardofTrustees,whichwillreviewandruleupontheGrievanceOfficer’s
decision.
EMERGENCYRESPONSEPLAN–MAINCAMPUS
TheDaemenCollegeEmergencyResponsePlanisintendedtoprovideneededdirectionandguidancetothecampus
communityintheeventofanysituationwhichaffectsthenormaloperationofthecampus.ConsistentwiththeNational
IncidentManagementSystem(NIMS),DaemenCollegeutilizestheIncidentCommandSystem(ICS)toeffectivelyrespond
tocrisesandconcerns.ChairedbytheVicePresidentforStudentAffairs(VPSA),thecampusEmergencyResponseTeam
(ERT)meetsregularlyinordertoreviewandbecomefamiliarwiththeplan,conducttrainingexercisesforthe
community,andensurethattheplaniscontinuallyupdatedandrevised.Regulartraininganddrillsareconductedon‐
campuswithconsultationfromAmherstemergencyresponseservicepersonnel.Additionally,theCollegehas
implementedanAdministratorOn‐Call(AOC)systemtoensurethataseniorleveladministratorisinformedwhenevera
significantincidentoccursthataffectsthesafetyofindividualsorthecampusproperty.Thissystemisinplaceatalltimes
regardlessofwhetherclassesareinsessionornot.
GeneralEmergencyProcedures
Itisnotfeasibleorpracticaltodevelopanemergencyplanbasedoneveryincidentthatmayoccur.Eachsituationand
crisisisdifferent.Eventwosituationsofthesamenaturearedifferentincircumstance.Therefore,theDaemenCollege
EmergencyResponsePlanisbasedontheNationalIncidentManagementSystem(NIMS)andIncidentCommandSystem
(ICS)asusedbyfederal,state,andlocallawenforcementandemergencyresponseagencies.ThepurposebehindICSisto
allowforintegratedcommandofmultipleresponseagencies—toallowforeaseofcommunication,sharingofresources,
andgreaterflexibilityinresponsebasedonthepersonnelatthesceneatthattime.
TherearefivemajormanagementfunctionsthatarethefoundationuponwhichtheICSisbuilt.Thesefunctionsapply
whethertheteamisrespondingtoaroutineemergency,organizingforamajornon‐emergencyevent,ormanaginga
responsetoamajordisaster.Thefivemajormanagementfunctionsare:

IncidentCommand:Setstheincidentobjectives,strategies,andprioritiesandhasoverallresponsibilityatthe
incidentorevent.
 Operations:Conductstacticaloperationstocarryouttheplan.Developsthetacticalobjectivesand
organization,anddirectsalltacticalresources.
 Planning:PreparesanddocumentstheIncidentActionPlantoaccomplishtheobjectives,collectsandevaluates
information,maintainsresourcestatus,andmaintainsdocumentationforincidentrecords.
 Logistics:Providessupport,resources,andallotherservicesneededtomeettheoperationalobjectives.

etcetera,isdeemedtheIncidentCommander.Inmostcases,thiswillbetheCampusSafetySupervisorforthatevening.
Whenitisappropriatetoswitchcommand,theIncidentCommanderwillbriefthenextpersonandtransitioncommand.
Asincidentsexpandorcontract,changeinjurisdictionordiscipline,orbecomemoreorlesscomplex,commandmay
changetomeettheneedsoftheincident.Rank,grade,andseniorityarenotthefactorsusedtoselecttheIncident
Commander.TheIncidentCommanderisalwaysahighlyqualifiedindividualtrainedtoleadtheincidentresponse.The
IncidentCommanderisalsotheonlypositionthatisalwaysfilledforanysituation.Allotherteammembersbecome
supportingcastandworktogethertoresolvethecrisis.
Dependingonthenatureoftheemergency,locallawenforcementandresponseagenciesmaybecomeinvolved.Inthose
instances,DaemenCollegestaffwilltransitionauthorityofthesituationtotheauthorities.However,theIncident
CommanderandDaemenERTmembersarestillresponsibleforworkingdirectlywithlawenforcementandemergency
responseteammembers,handlingmediarelations,andprovidingthenecessaryreportforresolvingasituationamicably.
Afterlawenforcementandemergencyresponsemembersleave,Collegestaffwillbelefttohandletheaftermath.Sothis
verymuchneedstobeateameffortandeveryoneneedstoknowtheproperwaytohandleacrisissituation.
AcrisisoremergencyisdefinedasANYeventthataffectsoneormorepeopleinasignificantwayand/orinvolves
local,state,and/orfederalauthorities.Thisisanintentionallybroaddefinitionusedpurposelysoastoensurethatall
incidentsarerespondedtoinaconsistentmanner.

Eachtenantmustkeepanaccurateheadcountofallemployeesandvisitorsthatarepresentintheirworkplace
atthatparticulartime.AdesignatedemployeeofthetenantmustbeabletoprovideTri‐MainCenterstafforthe

theirsecureDesignatedRefugeArea.Oncethe“AllClear”signalisgivenbyamemberoftheTri‐Mainstaff,the
tenants,theiremployeesandvisitorsmayreturntotheirrespectivesuites.
CommunityMembersWhoRequireAssistancetoExittheBuilding

Alltenantswithanystaff,clientsorvisitorsthatmayrequireassistancetoevacuatethebuildinginan
emergencymustnotifytheManagementOfficeinwriting.Tri‐Mainmanagementwillkeeparecordofalltenant
suiteswhereassistancemayberequiredandthislistwillbeavailabletotheFireDepartmentupontheirarrival
atthebuilding.

Whenanalarmsounds—thoserequiringassistance,adesignatedemergencymonitor,andaminimumnumber
ofassistants—aretoremainintheirsuite(RemaininPlace)andclosethedoor.Allothersaretoevacuatethe
building.

Inanemergencyduringnormalbusinesshours,thedesignatedemergencymonitoristocalltheTri‐Mainoffice
andreporttheirlocation,totalnumberofpeopleinthesuiteandthenumberofpeopleneedingassistance.

Afternormalbusinesshoursalltenants,employees,andvisitorsenteringthebuildingaretosigninatthe
securitydesk.Emergencyresponderswillusethislogtoensureallpersonsarevacatedfromthebuilding.

TheExitDischargeisthepartoftheExitRoutethatleadsdirectlyoutsidethebuilding.Eachdesignatedexit
stairway,inthebuilding,dischargesoutsidethebuilding.

Atsomelevels,thestairsmaycontinuebeyondthelevelatwhichtheexitdischargeislocated.Exitsignswill
indicatetheproperdoortoexittotheoutsideofthebuilding.

Allexitdoorswill:
o Beabletobeopenedfromtheinsideatalltimes,withoutkeys,toolsoranyspecialknowledge.Panic

Whenitissafetore‐enterthebuildingorintheeventofafalsealarm,thealarmsystemwillberesetandaTri‐Main
employeewillsignal“AllClear”totenants,visitorsandemployeesattheRefugeAreastoletthemknowwhenitissafeto
returntotheirworkplaces.Nooneistoenterthebuildinguntilthe“AllClear”signalhasbeengivenbyTri‐Mainstaff.
DutiesofTri‐mainCenterStaff(CriticalFacilityOperations)

Whentheemergencyalarmsounds,Tri‐Mainengineers,maintenanceandadministrativestaffwillremaininthe
facilitytoascertaintheextentoftheemergencyandcoordinatetheemergencyresponse.

Adesignatedemployeewillpositionthemselvesinthemainfloorlobbytoassistintheevacuationofthefacility
andtoguidethelocalfiredepartment,upontheirarrival,totheidentifiedlocationoftheproblem.Ifafireis
determinedtobetheproblem,theFireChiefisinchargeoftheincidentuntilthefirehazardiseliminated.

OtheradministrativestaffwillremainintheTri‐Mainofficetobeabletonotifytenantswithdisabledvisitors
whentheyshouldevacuate.Thispersonwillalsohandleallincomingcallsregardingtheemergency.

Thedockoperatorswillreturnandremaininplaceattheloadingdocklevel,todirectemergencyresponders.
TheelevatorsshouldnotbeoperatedunlessdirectedbyamemberoftheManagementStafforFireDepartment.
Shouldtheybeneededinothercriticalareas,theseniormanagementofficialonsitewillnotifythem.

OtherTri‐Mainstaffwillbedirectedtovariousplacesinoroutsidethebuildingtoassistinorderlyevacuation.
Evaluation

ThiswrittenEmergencyAction/Evacuationprogramwillbereviewedandupdatedonanas‐neededbasis.
Shouldtheprogrambeupdated,allemployeeswillbetrainedintheelementsoftheupdate.Thesenior
managementofficialforTri‐MainDevelopmentLLCwillberesponsibleforthereviewandupdatingofthe

Aresidentstudentwhoislessthan18yearsofageandnotofficiallyemancipatedbyhis/herparentsorguardianmay
designateacontactperson;however,thestudent'scustodialparentorguardianwillalsobenotifiedwithin24hoursofa
determinationthatthestudentismissing.
NotificationProceduresforMissingResidentStudents

Itisunderstoodthatresidentstudentswillhaveopportunitiesduringtheacademicyeartotakeweekendsaway
tovisitfamilyorfriends.Whenstudentswillbeawayfromtheiron‐campusresidence,studentsshouldinform
theirroommateorResidentAssistantoftheirplansandexpecteddateofreturnforemergencycontact
purposes.Forpurposesofthispolicy,astudentmaybeconsideredtobea“missingstudent”iftheperson’s
absenceiscontrarytohis/herusualpatternofbehaviorandunusualcircumstancesmayhavecausedthe
absence.Suchcircumstancescouldincludeareasonable/reliablereportorsuspicionthatthemissingstudent
maybeendangered.Examplesinclude,butarenotlimitedto,possiblevictimfoulplay,expressionofsuicidal
thoughts,possiblealcoholordrugabuse,alife‐threateningsituation,orrecentcontactwithpersonswhomay
endangerthestudent’swelfare.


ALCOHOLANDOTHERDRUGPOLICIES
StudentActivities
DaemenCollegeallowsstudentswhocomplywiththeNewYorkStateminimumdrinkingageof21yearsofageto
consumealcoholasaprivilege,butnotasaright,andwithinspecifiedguidelinesandlimitations,atcertainCollegeevents,
asdeterminedbytheDirectorofStudentActivities.Theseeventsaregenerallylimitedtothosewhereasignificant
numberofstudentsovertheageof21areanticipatedtoattend.
TheCollegeexpectsthatstudentswhochoosetoconsumealcoholwilldosoresponsibly.Individualsorgroupswho
conductthemselvesinadisorderlymanner,destroyproperty,orinfringeupontherightsofothersareaccountablefor
theirbehaviorandwillbesubjecttocampusdisciplinaryactionand/orappropriatecivilorcriminalactions.Inother
words,drunkennessisaproblem,notanexcuseforone.Thesepoliciesandregulationsapplytoallmembersofthe
Collegecommunityandtheirinvitedguests.
1. AllalcoholicbeveragesaretobeprovidedbyDaemenCollegeDiningServiceatalleventsapprovedforalcohol
service.
2. AllstudentsocialfunctionsinvolvingalcoholareusuallylimitedtomembersoftheDaemenCollegecommunity
andtheirescortedguests.Studentsareliablefortheactionsoftheirguests.TheDirectorofStudentActivities
willgenerallyrefusealcoholrequestsforeventswhereunescortedvisitorsmaybeexpected.TheDirectormay
refuseentryofanypersontoanyCollegeevent.
3. Alcoholabusewillnotbetolerated.Alcoholmaynotbeofferedasaprizeorreward,orconsumedincontests.
Socialparticipantsareallowedtopurchasenomorethanonealcoholicdrinkatatime(oratthediscretionofthe
DirectorofStudentActivities).
4. FoodServicebartenders,securityofficers,groupmoderators,theDirectorofStudentActivities,andtheVice
PresidentforStudentAffairsandDeanofStudentshaveauthoritytorefusethepurchaseofalcoholbyany
personwhoappearstobeintoxicatedortroublesomeandthatpersonmayberequiredtoleaveasocialevent.
5. Asidefromthespecificationspermittingalcoholatcertainstudentactivities,andtheguidelinesforalcohol
permittedintheresidencehallslistedinthisStudentHandbook,alcoholcannotbeconsumedoncampus
groundsorinprivateautomobileswhileoncampusgrounds.
DaemenCollegerecognizedstudentorganizationsarenotpermittedtohosteventsoncampusoroffcampuswherethe
primaryfocusistheconsumptionofalcohol.Thistypicallyreferstobarpartiesorfundraiserswherepersonspayacover
chargeandalcoholicbeveragesareprovidedfreeoratareducedfee.Theintentofthispolicyispreventanddiscourage
eventsthatpromotealcoholabuse(bingedrinking,underagedrinking,DWI)andtoreducetheriskofliabilityfacedby
studentorganizationsandtheirofficerswhenholdingthesetypesofevents.
ResidenceHalls
TheuseofalcoholintheresidencehallswillbesubjecttostateandfederallawsandDaemenCollegePolicy.Responsible
useofalcoholbystudents21yearsofageandolderispermittedonlyaccordingtocollegeregulations.Inaccordancewith
NewYorkStatelawstudentsundertheageof21maynotpossess,sell,orconsumealcoholicbeverages.Thecollege
followsazero‐tolerancepolicyinthesematters.Thismeansthateveryreportedincidentwillbeformallyaddressed
throughtheconductreviewsystem.(Pleasenote:Generalpolicyinformationregardingdrugsandalcoholare
coveredinSection5,CampusPolicies)

Thefollowingguidelinespertaintostudentswhoareoflegaldrinkingage.TheCollegealsoexpectsallvisitorsandguests
tocomplywiththeregulationslistedbelow:
A. Anyresidentbringingvisitors/gueststocampusshallberesponsibleformakingthealcoholpoliciesknownto
theirvisitors/guests.Everyvisitor/guestissubjecttocollegerulesandregulations.Itistheresponsibilityof
residentsashoststomonitorandacceptresponsibilityforthebehavioroftheirvisitors/guests.
B. AlcoholisnotpermittedinCanavanHall,includingthosestudentswhoareovertheageof21.
C. Alcoholisnotpermittedinanyapartment/suitewherenostudentsovertheageof21reside.
D. Studentsovertheageof21areresponsibleforkeepingalcoholoutofthehandsofminors.
E. Kegs,taps,beerballs,andothercommonsourcesofalcohol,arenotpermitted.Thepossessionofanyimplement
whichcanbeusedtoirresponsiblyingestalcoholisprohibited.Thisincludes,butisnotlimitedto,funnels,beer
bongs,etc.Drinkinggamesanddrinkinggamedevices,(e.g..beerpongtables),arealsonotpermitted.
F. Studentswhoareoflegaldrinkingageandwhoareinthepossessionofalcohol,orpresentwherealcoholisbeing
consumed,mustprovideproofofagewhenaskedbyanycollegeofficialincludingResidentAssistants.Ifproofof
ageisnotprovided,studentswillbeaskedtodisposeofthealcoholandfollow‐upwilloccurviatheCollege’sCode
ofConduct.
G. Underagestudentsmaynotbeinthepresenceofalcoholicbeverages.Theonlyexceptionisanunderageresident
wholiveswithstudentsoflegaldrinkingage,maybeinthepresenceofalcoholinhis/herassignedapartment.The
underagepersonmaynotconsumeorpossessalcohol.Onceguests(anyonenotresidinginsaidapartment)overthe
ageof21enteranapartmentwherealcoholispresent,NOstudentsundertheageof21(includingresidentsofthat
apartment)maybepresent.
H. Theamountofalcoholpermittedbyeachresidentovertheageof21inanapartmentis1literofspiritsorwine,or
a6packofbeer.Visitors/Guestsofresidentsarenotpermittedtobringalcoholontocampus.
I. Alcoholiccontainersmaynotbeusedasdecorations.Emptycansorbottleswillbedeemedasproofof
consumption.Studentsovertheageof21shoulddisposeoforrecyclecontainersimmediatelyafterconsumption.
J. Intheeventthatthereisanalcoholpolicyviolation,itisnottheCollege’sresponsibilitytodeterminewhowas
consumingalcoholandwhowasnot.Itwillbeassumedthatanyoneinvolvedintheincidentwasengaginginthe
policyviolation.
K. Publicintoxicationisconsideredanalcoholpolicyviolation.Actionsasaresultofpublicintoxicationwhichdisturb
anypeople,facilities,community,and/orselfwillbedealtwiththroughtheappropriateauthorities.
DaemenCollegeDrugandAlcoholAbusePreventionPolicy
PursuanttotheU.S.DepartmentofEducationRegulationsimplementingtheDrug‐FreeSchoolsandCommunitiesAct
Amendmentsof1989,DaemenCollegeestablishesthefollowingpolicyandregulations:
PolicyStatement:DaemenCollegeendeavorstoestablishforitsstudents,facultyandstaffanenvironmentinwhichthe
misuseofalcoholanddrugsisminimized,whichencouragesmoderation,safetyandpersonalaccountability,andwhich
providesanatmospherefreeofcoercionandpeerpressuretoabusealcoholoruseillegaldrugs.TheCollegestrongly
believesandencouragestheuseoftreatmentandeducationalprogramsasthemosteffectivemeanstoreduceand
preventsubstanceabuseofanykind.AllmembersoftheDaemencommunityshouldexercisesoundjudgmentandbe
mindfuloftheirpersonalhealth,safetyandwellbeing,aswellasthatoftheirfriendsandguests,byobservingalllaws
regulatingdrugandalcoholandtheCollegerulesexpressedinthisPolicyandelsewhereinthisHandbook.
StandardsofConduct:Theunlawfulpossession,useordistributionofalcoholandillegaldrugsbystudentsand
employeesoncollegepropertyorwhileengagedinCollegeactivitiesofftheCollegecampusisprohibited.Whilethe
CollegepermitsthelawfuluseofalcoholbystudentsandguestsoncampusinaccordancewiththeCollegealcoholpolicy
(seefollowingsection),anyabuseofthisprivilegewillbesubjecttoCollegedisciplinaryactionand/orappropriate
criminalsanctions.

LegalSanctionsRegardingAlcohol:UnderNewYorkStatelawitisillegal:
 Toprovidealcoholtopersonsundertheageof21ortopersonswhoarevisiblyintoxicated.Providingalcoholto
personsundertheageof21isaClassAmisdemeanorwhichispunishablebyimprisonmentforuptooneyear,a
fineofnotmorethan$1,000and/or3yearsprobation;
 Tomisrepresenttheageofapersonundertheageof21forthepurposeofinducingasaleofalcohol.Those
foundguiltyofviolatingthislawshallbepunishedbyafineofnotmorethan$200,orbyimprisonmentfornot
morethanfivedays,orbybothfineandimprisonment;
 Forapersonundertheageof21topossessalcoholwiththeintenttoconsumeit.Thosefoundguiltyofviolating
thislawshallbepunishedbyafineofnotmorethan$50and/orrequiredtocompleteanalcoholawareness
programand/orrequiredtoprovideupto30hoursofcommunityservice;
 Foranypersonundertheageof21topresentorofferanywrittenevidenceofagewhichisfalse,fraudulentor
notactuallyhisown,forthepurposeofpurchasingorattemptingtopurchasealcohol.Thosefoundguiltyof
violatingthislawshallbepunishedbyafineofnotmorethan$100,and/orrequiredtocompleteanalcohol
awarenessprogramand/orrequiredtoprovideupto30hoursofcommunityservice.Additionally,ifitisfound
thataNewYorkStatedriver'slicensewasthewrittenevidenceofageusedforthepurposeofthepurchaseor
attemptedpurchase,theperson'slicensetodriveamotorvehiclemaybesuspendedfor90days.Lastly,
alterationoftherequiredformsofidentification(driver'slicense,passportorarmedforcesIDcard)may
constitute"possessionofaforgedinstrument…withintenttodefraud,"whichisaClassDfelonyunderNew
YorkStatepenallaw.
LegalConsequencesofOperatingaVehicleWhileUndertheInfluenceofAlcoholorDrugs
 OperatingaMotorVehicleAfterConsumingAlcoholWhileUnderAge21.Anypersonunderage21whooperates
amotorvehicleafterhavingconsumedalcohol,asdeterminedbyablood‐alcoholcontentofatleast.02%,may
bereferredtotheDepartmentofMotorVehiclesforlicensesuspensionorrevocation,anda$125charge.VandT
Law§1192‐a.
 DrivingWhileAbilityImpaired(DWAI)(morethan.05%butlessthan.08%BloodAlcoholContent(B.A.C.)First
violation(TrafficInfraction):Mandatory$300‐$500fine;and/orimprisonmentupto15days;mandatory90
daylicenserevocation.Subsequentviolationsincreasethefine,possibleimprisonmentandlengthofrevocation.
 DrivingWhileIntoxicated(DWI)(.08%B.A.C.orhigherorwhileimpairedbytheuseofadrug)1stViolation
(Misdemeanor):Mandatory$500‐$1,000fineand/or1yearimprisonment;Mandatory6‐monthminimum
licenserevocation.Twoviolationswithin10yearscanresultinjailforupto4yearsanda1yearrevocationof
yourlicensetodrive.Ifthereispersonalinjury,apossiblelifetimerevocationcanresult.
 Ifyouareundertheageof21andchargedwithDWAI,orDWI,andyouareconvictedofsuchcharges,your
licensewillberevokedforaminimumofoneyear.Ifyoudrivewhileyourlicenseissuspendedorrevoked,orif
yourefuseachemicaltest,youfaceamandatoryjailtermof7‐180daysandamandatoryfineof$500‐$1,000.
Drugs
ThereareseveralNewYorkStateandFederallawsprohibitingtheuseand/orsaleofcontrolledsubstances(drugssuch
asmarijuana,heroin,cocaine,PCP,LSD,methamphetamineandfentanyl).Misuseandsaleofprescriptionmedicationsis
alsoprohibited.Prescriptionsaremeanttobeusedonlybythepersonforwhomtheprescriptioniswrittenand/oras
prescribed.Aconvictioncanresultinasubstantialfineand/oralengthyimprisonment.Rememberthattheconvictionof
acrimewillremainonyourrecordandcanimpactyourabilitytofindsuitableemploymentorgetaprofessionallicense
andcanimpairyourabilitytotravel.
DaemenCollegeSanctions
MembersoftheCollegecommunitywhoviolatethesepolicieswillbesubjecttodisciplineviatheStudentCodeof
Conduct.Takingintoaccountthecircumstancesofeachcase,sanctionsforstudentsmayrangefromwarningsto
expulsionfromtheCollege,andsanctionsforfacultyandstaffmembersmayrangefromwarningstotermination.Atthe
discretionoftheCollege,asanalternativeto,orinadditiontoanydisciplinaryactiontaken,studentsoremployeesmay
berequiredtoparticipateinandtocompletesatisfactorilyanappropriatecounselingorrehabilitationprogram.Records
ofsuchdisciplinemaybemaintainedinastudent’srecordoranemployee’spersonnelfile.Enforcementofthese
sanctionswillbethroughtheCollege’sexistingdisciplinaryproceduresforstudents,faculty,andstaff,asappropriate.
HealthRisks
Abusingdrugsand/oralcoholamongotherthingscanmakeyousick,loweryourjobperformance,putyouinprison,
causedependency,beexpensiveandcostyouyourlife.

leadtoirreversiblebraindamage,damageliver,heart,andpancreas,irritateyourstomach,andpossiblycausephysical
damagetoyourunbornbaby.
Drugusemayincreaseyourheartrateandbloodpressure,causetremorsandconvulsions,produceheart,liver,and
kidneydamage,causepersonalitychanges,confusion,anddepression,leadtoparanoiaandhallucinations,injureyour
unbornbaby,andloweryourresistancetodisease—includingSTDsandAIDS.
AmnestyPolicy
ThehealthandsafetyofeverystudentattheInstitutionisofutmostimportance.Institutionrecognizesthatstudentswho
havebeendrinkingand/orusingdrugs(whethersuchuseisvoluntaryorinvoluntary)atthetimethatviolence,including
butnotlimitedtodomesticviolence,datingviolence,stalking,orsexualassaultoccursmaybehesitanttoreportsuch
incidentsduetofearofpotentialconsequencesfortheirownconduct.DaemenCollegestronglyencouragesstudentsto
reportdomesticviolence,datingviolence,stalking,orsexualassaulttoinstitutionofficials.Abystanderactingingood
faithorareportingindividualactingingoodfaiththatdisclosesanyincidentofdomesticviolence,datingviolence,
stalking,orsexualassaulttoInstitution'sofficialsorlawenforcementwillnotbesubjecttoInstitution'scodeofconduct
actionforviolationsofalcoholand/ordrugusepoliciesoccurringatornearthetimeofthecommissionofthedomestic
violence,datingviolence,stalking,orsexualassault.

community.Acopyofthereportmaybereviewedonpage31ofthisdocument.Theproceduresforpreparingtheannual
disclosureofcrimestatisticsincludereportingstatisticstotheDaemenCollegecommunityobtainedfromthefollowing
sources:DaemenCollegeCampusSafety,HousingandResidenceLife,CollegiateVillageandlocalpolicemunicipalities.

1. MurderandNon‐NegligentManslaughterisdefinedasthewillful(non‐negligent)killingofonehumanbeing
byanother.

NegligentManslaughterisdefinedasthekillingofanotherpersonthroughgrossnegligence.
3.
SexOffenses—Forcibleisdefinedasanysexualactdirectedagainstanotherperson,forciblyand/oragainst
thatperson’swill;ornotforciblyoragainsttheperson’swillwherethevictimisincapableofgivingconsent.
4.
SexOffenses—Non‐forcibleareincidentsofunlawful,non‐forciblesexualintercourse.Onlytwotypesof
offensesareincludedinthisdefinition.

DomesticViolenceincludesassertedviolentmisdemeanorandfelonyoffensescommittedbythevictim's

personsbyforceorthreatofforceorviolenceand/orbyputtingthevictiminfear.

incendiarydevicesorotherdeadlyweapons.Thisclassificationencompassesweaponsoffensesthatare
regulatoryinnature.Includeinthisclassification:manufacture,sale,orpossessionofdeadlyweapons;carrying
deadlyweapons,concealedoropenly;using,manufacturing,etc.,ofsilencers;furnishingdeadlyweaponsto
minors;alienspossessingdeadlyweapons;andattemptstocommitanyoftheabove.
15. DrugLawViolationsisdefinedastheviolationoflawsprohibitingtheproduction,distributionand/oruseof
certaincontrolledsubstancesandtheequipmentordevicesutilizedintheirpreparationand/oruse.The
unlawfulcultivation,manufacture,distribution,sale,purchase,use,possession,transportationorimportationof
anycontrolleddrugornarcoticsubstance.Arrestsforviolationsofstateandlocallaws,specificallythose
relatingtotheunlawfulpossession,sale,use,growing,manufacturingandmakingofnarcoticdrugs.The
relevantsubstancesinclude:opiumorcocaineandtheirderivatives(morphine,heroin,codeine);marijuana;
syntheticnarcotics—manufacturednarcoticswhichcancausetrueaddiction(Demerol,methadone);and
dangerousnonnarcoticdrugs(barbiturates,Benzedrine).
16. LiquorLawViolationsisdefinedastheviolationofstateorlocallawsorordinancesprohibitingthe
manufacture,sale,purchase,transportation,possession,oruseofalcoholicbeverages,notincludingdriving

2. Whenapersonisconvictedofahatecrimepursuanttothisarticleandthespecifiedoffenseisamisdemeanoror

andInformationCommons,andtheVisualandPerformingArtsCenter,aswellattheCyberCaféinWickCenterare
equippedwithsprinklersystems.CampusVillageandCollegiateVillageresidencehallsareequippedwithsmoke
detectors,CO2detectorsandwatersprinklersystems.CanavanHallisequippedwithsprinklers,smokedetectorsand
CO2detectors.TheTri‐MainCenterisequippedwithsmokedetectors,heatdetectorsandwatersprinklersystems.The
Homewoodsuitesroomsandhallsareequippedwithsmokedetectors,CO2detectorsandwatersprinklersystems.
Eachcalendaryear,atleasttwo(2)fireevacuationdrillsareconductedwithinouracademicandadministrativebuildings.
Eachcalendaryear,five(5)fireevacuationdrillsareconductedwithinouron‐campusresidencehalls(CanavanHalland
