Get Golf Ready is designed for beginner golfers. Learn
to putt, drive and swing in a casual, friendly setting. Get
onto the course to play, have fun, spend quality time with
friends and family and meet new golfers. Cost is $75 for
lessons or $125 for lessons and clubs. Supply is limited.
Warrior Golf Scramble held

Golfers are invited to play in the monthly Warrior FourPerson Scramble. Cost is $25 for members and $35 for
nonmembers. The fee includes green fee, golf cart, prize
money and social after the round.

May brings fitness challenge
Come to the Fitness Center on the METC during the month
of May and attend as many instructor-led classes as

The Camp Bullis Rod-N-Gun Recreation Center provides
Concealed Handgun License classes. Successful
completion of this class is required to apply for a Texas

Leatherneck Arms. Cost is $65. Students must be at least
21 years or 18 years and active-duty military. DOD ID

The Sam Houston Community Center is an economical, yet
elegant venue for big events offering a variety of rooms
and full service catering to feed from 6 to 300 people. A

luncheons, conferences, unit functions, graduations,

Bench press contest held
May 15-19
Competitors are invited to participate in a Bench Press
Contest at the Medina Fitness Center. Staff record the
competitor’s max weight with prizes going to the top
finishers both for men’s and women’s categories.
Fitness holds a challenge
Through May
Come to the Kelly Fitness Center for a Race Against the
Clock. Participants row against the clock and complete
2,000 meters as quickly as possible. Fitness staff log
all entries and the fastest participants win. For more

Gateway Club

Chef cooks up special dinner
The Gateway Club’s chef creates a special dining
experience in the Mesquite dining room from 5-8 p.m.
Cost is $18.95 for all dinners except April 28, which is $27.
The April 28 menu includes lobster tail, bacon-wrapped
filet mignon, lobster macaroni and cheese, asparagus,
salad and dessert. On May 5 enjoy a New York steak with
fried shrimp, duchess potatoes, mixed vegetables, salad
and dessert. The May 12 menu features a T-bone steak
with fried onion rings, seasoned steak fries, roasted corn
on the cob, salad and dessert.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with great music provided by DJ
Tony Style, 5-6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., in the Lone Star
Lounge. The Show Band entertains 6-9 p.m. and DJ LJU
spins favorite tunes in the Maverick Lounge 5-8 p.m.

Come to Karaoke Night and sing or just enjoy the
entertainment and a frosty beverage in the Lone Star
Lounge featuring DJ Dee Dee.

The Club hosts Variety Night as DJ Tony Style plays a
wide variety of music in the Lone Star Lounge. Relax in
the lounge or enjoy the weather out on the patio with pool
tables and big-screen TVs.
Pre-Mother’s Day buffet offered

The Gateway Club honors moms with an early Mother’s
Day lunch buffet. The menu includes roast beef au
jus, roast turkey with cranberry chutney, fried chicken,
herbed roasted chicken, baked tilapia, cornbread
stuffing, whipped potatoes with brown gravy, yams
with marshmallows, macaroni and cheese, green beans
almandine, mixed vegetables, soup and salad bar,
desserts and more. Cost is $10.95.

Celebrate mothers at the Club with a feast in the Fiesta
Ballroom featuring rosemary crusted prime rib, roasted
turkey with champagne mushroom sauce, cranberry and
orange chutney, pork loin stuffed with dried fruit, baked
herbed chicken, baked tilapia stuffed with crabmeat
and topped with white wine sauce and bourbon-glazed
ham. Sides include whipped potatoes, cranberry pecan
stuffing, corn O’Brien, roasted asparagus, broccoli spears
with hollandaise sauce, pasta pepperoni, salmon display
with shrimp and capers, fresh fruit, deviled egg, roasted
vegetables, jalapeño halves stuffed with cream cheese,
carrot raisin salad, strawberry walnut blend salad, Greek
salad with feta cheese and olives, potato salad, gourmet
cheese display and stuffed cherry tomatoes. The buffet
also features a breakfast bar with fluffy scrambled
eggs with red and green pepper bits, crispy bacon, pork
sausage, homemade hash browns, biscuits and country
gravy, crepes with assorted toppings, grits and cheese
and a build-your-own omelet bar. All these choices are
complete with a great selection of desserts and more.

Families stay fit
May 13 • Mothers and children kayaking trip
June 10 • Fathers and children kayaking trip
As part of the FitFamily initiative, Youth Programs offers
two one-hour kayaking trips for families. Cost is $10 per
person. Trips travel down the San Antonio River from
Espada Park and are open to active-duty, DOD and retired
military and dependents. Participants must present their
DOD ID the day of the trip. The trip is guided by American
Canoe Association Certified Kayak instructors. Times are
9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

2017 Kinder Casino Trips
May 9-10 • July 11-12
Sept. 12-13 • Nov. 14-15
Travel to the Grand Casino Coushatta in Kinder, La.
with ITT. The trip includes round trip motor coach
transportation, hotel accommodations and a $23 voucher
from the Casino. Sign up as soon as possible since trips
fill up quickly. The bus departs at 7:30 a.m. and returns
the next day. Cost is $60 for double occupancy or $120 for
single occupancy. Payment is required at the time of sign
up and the deadline to sign up is two weeks prior.
Disney® Salute 2017 is here
Disney provides Military Salute Tickets to “Eligible
Service Members” including special admission tickets
for active-duty military and retirees through December.
The number of tickets that can be purchased is six per
military member or retiree ID card. The military member or
retiree must accompany their party at the gate to activate
the tickets. New this year to the Disney World® Salute
tickets is a Five-Day ticket. Prices for the Four-Day ticket
range from $207 to $244. The Five-Day ticket prices range
from $222 to $259. Each price is per person. ITT also
carries Disneyland® Three-Day Park Hopper admission
tickets for $155 and has added a Four-Day Hopper for
$180. The Disneyland® blackout dates are April 9-23.
There are no blackout dates for Disney World®.

Annual pass saves money
Purchase a Joint Base San Antonio Recreation Park
Canyon Lake annual pass for $65. This pass offers entry
into both the Sunny Side and Hancock Cove side of the
facility. The annual pass includes a boat or trailer pass and
is valid for one year from the date of issue. Annual pass
holders are not charged a boat launch fee. Without the pass,
daily entry is $7 per visit, per vehicle.

Tobias Band. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres 5-6 p.m. Admission is $4
for members and $5 for nonmembers.

Bring mothers, wives and grandmothers to the Mother’s
Day Brunch. The Parr Club offers a delicious buffet with
seating times at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m.,
noon, 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Cost is
$28 per adult for members, $15 per child for members’
children, 6-12 years, $30 per adult for nonmembers and
$17 per child for nonmember’s children, 6-12 years.
Children 5 years and younger eat for free. All mothers
and grandmothers are entered in a drawing for a chance
to win a spa treatment gift certificate. Drawings are held
the next day and winners are notified. Reservations and
prepayments are required. Coupons are not accepted for
this event and refunds are not issued after May 11.

Mothers and daughters enjoy tea
May 13 • Noon to 2 p.m.
Moms are invited to bring their daughters to have High Tea
and learn the English custom of tea time with the history
of various teas. Along with the tea, mothers and daughters
enjoy English hors d’oeuvres. Cups are provided or guests
can bring their own. Cost is $5 per person. This event has
limited spaces and reservations must be made by May 5.
Parents needed
Youth programs is recruiting parents who would like to
participate on boards or as an accreditation team member
to assist in maintaining quality care for military youth
provided at JBSA-Randolph Youth Programs.
Instructional classes available
Instructional lessons are offered for children and youth
4-18 years and are taught by certified instructors.
Instruction times vary from hourly, weekly or monthly per
activity. Classes include Taekwondo, Private Piano, Guitar,
Private Drum and Dance.
