Redbird Elementary Math Facts Club and Top Ram Student Information Page 1 Redbird’s Math Facts Club Purpose: The purpose of the Redbird Math Facts Club is to include as many students as possible by teaching effective strategies and providing daily practice to help students learn their math facts. By the end of the year, it is expected that every student will be a member of the Math Facts Club. Qualification: Qualification for the club is based on the MPS guidelines for Basic Facts (see below). Study the appropriate math facts for your grade level. 2. Take the monthly timed test in your classroom and score at least the Mastery Level on each operation (see page 2 for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division qualifying criteria for your grade level). 3. Your teacher will request a membership card for you when you qualify. 4. You will receive your membership card and you should bring it with you to Top Ram Testing each month along with two #2 pencils. 5. Once you receive your Math Facts Club Membership card, you will test monthly for Top Ram. There will be different prizes awarded for each month you qualify as a TOP RAM. Redbird Elementary Math Facts Club and Top Ram Student Information Page 3 TOP Ram Competition For students who are members of the Redbird Math Facts Club and wish to take on a more challenging math activity they may try out for TOP RAM Competition. Testing is monthly, with a prize each time they qualify as a TOP RAM. The chart below shows the standard the students must meet in order to earn TOP RAM STATUS in math facts. The first month they qualify they will receive a TOP RAM t-shirt as their club uniform. Each month thereafter, prizes will be awarded if the standard is met. Students must be Math Facts Club Members to try out for Top Ram Testing. 2. All Math Facts Club members will bring their card to the specified room ON Top Ram Competition dates at their announced times. 3. Mrs. Berzins will administer the timed test and score them. The tests themselves will not be returned to the students. However, tests will be kept for 10 days after the monthly test and may be viewed by students, parents, or the teacher. 4. Mr. Parker will announce winners on KRED. 5. Students will receive a “TOP Ram” t-shirt as their Club Uniform the first month that they qualify as a Top Ram. 6. Each month thereafter, students may choose a prize as recognition for meeting the required standard. Prize Structure Monthly TOP RAM Prizes Explanation T-shirt, stadium cup, keychain, Each month a student passes the wristlet, dog tag, pencils, etc. TOP RAM TEST with the required accuracy, they will select one of the monthly prizes.
