would like them by the end of February.
Greetings from 4th Grade!
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours. We had a great
party on Friday. It sure was nice to see so many parents
and other family members here to celebrate. We were
able to exchange our cards, eat pizza, treats and ice
cream sundaes, and play bingo. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
Math: We continue in Module 5—Fractions. This week
we have been adding and subtracting mixed numbers.
Students also know how to change an improper fraction
into a mixed number. Please remind your student to complete their daily practice from our math lesson. Those returning the homework receive a “B Slip” for being responsible.
Writing
In writing, we have finished our final drafts of Chapters 13. We were in the computer lab again on Fridayto find
more text features to add to your books. Next week we
will work on the table of contents, glossary, introduction
and conclusion for our books.
Boxtop Update: We did a box top drawing on Friday.
When students bring in box tops they are given a coupon
to be part of the drawing. This was our second drawing of
the year. We will be having our final drawing at the end of
the school year. Please continue to send box tops our
way. We use the funds to purchase items given out with
the AR board and other supplies our classroom needs.
Thanks for your support of this great program!!
Homework: Homework consists of our daily math lesson
practice and reading each night. Most students have
done a great job with both. If you are not seeing math
most nights ask your student. Please encourage your student to read every night. Those completing a log, receive
a “B slip”.
Fine Arts News: Woodview Music classes will be lear ning the Star
Spangled Banner and Belding Fight Song this fall. They will also be
working on rhythm and drumming. Art classes will be experimenting
with color and water color pencils. Please bring a paint shirt to keep in
your cubby for Art classes. Mrs. Pendleton will tell you when to bring
the shirts to class.
Physical Education News: This year the students will be lear ning the
skills of a sport and then implementing those skills into an activity that
goes along with each sport. This fall the students will be starting out with
flag football and then going on to fitness testing. The fifth grade classes
will also be working on the different muscles of the body throughout the
year. Please make sure that your child has the proper footwear to participate in physical education and music classes. We do a lot of activity in
each class and they need tennis shoes to be able to move well.
Technology: This year the students will be lear ning how to remember
their user name and passwords. These are very important and are with
them until they graduate. This fall they will start out by going over the
Microsoft Office toolbars. The students will be working on how to create
a document, save, and print that document. They will also be accessing
and doing research on the internet.
THANK-YOU AND WELCOME BACK!
