What is the Watercycle?

FAQ
What is the Watercycle?
The Watercycle is a state-of-the-art, engineered water system that supplies a home with a perpetual supply of potable
water. Pure water is pulled from an on-site reservoir, used within the home, then purified through multiple stages, and
returned to the reservoir for reuse in its original, pure state.
Does this “cycle” collect and treat 100% of the water?
The Watercycle collects all the water that flows through the home, as well as any water added to the system. Since some
water is used as part of the process, the Watercycle returns 80% of the wastewater back to drinking water.
What happens to the waste?
Through a series of natural processes, primarily driven by microbiology, the organics are converted to their most natural
elements – mineralized to carbon dioxide, oxygen, and nitrogen gas.
How does the process work?
Much the same way nature’s water cycle does. The Tangent Watercycle purifies and supplies water in three stages:
1. Remove Stage: This is Tangent’s Preliminary Purification Process. A natural conversion process that breaks down
the organic materials to their basic elements (carbon and oxygen). Multiple chambers emulate and expedite
nature’s own biological and filtration processes to promote a natural renewal that turns most everything into
minerals making the water 95% pure. From here, the water continues to the Refine Stage for further purification.
2. Refine Stage: This is Tangent’s Advanced Purification Process. A purification appliance removes all chemicals,
pharmaceuticals and hygiene products, restoring the water to its highest level of purity. This wastewater
treatment process completely purifies the water and returns it to the Reserve Stage for secure storage until it is
needed again.
3. Reserve Stage: A pure water storage tank that supplies water for everyday use within the home, similar to a
pristine and confined aquifer. The size may vary in relation to the anticipated water requirements, but is intended
to provide enough water to last three days, in the event of an emergency.
A Central Control System monitors this entire process ensuring effective operation and the highest quality output.
Is the cycled water safe to drink?
Yes. The Watercycle has been meticulously tested by internal and third party resources in various development
environments with oversight by state and local Boards of Health and nationally recognized panels of experts to ensure that
the purity of the water far exceeds standards required of drinking water.
What does the water taste like?
Water. It tastes like pure water. Unlike city water there is no chlorinated taste or odor and unlike well-water there is no
iron or metal taste or musty smell. It’s refreshing.

Do I need to add water to the Watercycle?
Yes, with time and use the total amount of water in the system can change – a few percent lost in evaporation, use in the
system, etc. You will need to make up water from time to time. Common make up water comes from rain water, cisterns, a
well or water brought in via truck.
How much water does the Reserve Stage hold?
We recommend a storage tank large enough to hold a 3-day supply of pure water. This may vary depending on the resident,
location and available space.
What happens when the power goes out?
Just as with homes that utilize well water, the system would go off. Tangent recommends an on-site back-up generator
could be used to power your water supply during such events.
Installation and Maintenance.
Can this system be installed on existing homes or is it limited to new construction?
The standard Watercycle is suitable for most homes including existing structures. An on-site inspection from a Tangent
Engineer will determine the viability and needs for an installation.
What are the maintenance requirements?
Just like ensuring the reliability of your automobile, the Watercycle requires routine maintenance to ensure optimal
performance The Watercycle incorporates filters, sensors and electronics that require periodic attention, calibration and
replacement. The Tangent Company, or a Tangent-certified dealer, will be assigned to your home for ongoing system
maintenance and operation.
How much does the Watercycle cost?
The total cost will be based on design and installation, and the periodic maintenance fees are comparable to conventional
water supply and wastewater disposal infrastructure rates.
How can I purchase the Watercycle for my home?
Contact a Tangent representative.
Can the Watercycle be installed on commercial buildings?
At this time the Watercycle is only available for residential sites. In the future a commercial launch may be forthcoming.
