Mount Rushmore in South Dakota is one of the most recognisable monuments in the US. It highlights many
Hollywood films such as Team America, World Police, National Treasure, Book of Secrets and North By
Northwest.
But it turns out that the carving is even more of a puzzle than the adventure films portrays it as - behind the
chiselled stone displaying Abraham Lincoln's head is a secret room.
When he planned the monument, sculptor Gutzon Borglum had aspired to build a much bigger picture that
introduced many critical moments from American history as well as the images of presidents Thomas Jefferson,
George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

It's a room that tells us the story of the America's future generations and charter documents lie behind four
presidents' head.
Tourists visit the Mount Rushmore in huge numbers.
But unfortunately, they're unable to access this door as it's tough to reach that place and get inside.

Unfortunately, the plan was too complicated to get completed, and Gutzon had to settle for the four presidents.

When Gutzon died before the design was completed, the work was stopped for many decades. Eventually, in the
late 1990s, the design was improved to an extent, and the chamber room was built.
The building of hall of records was started in the 1920s and was closed during
1990s.
Many porcelain enamel decoration featuring the American history, Declaration of Independence, the
Constitution, and the Bill of Rights were put in place as well as a life of Gutzon, in a teakwood box that was
locked in a titanium vault.
Many Hollywood films have been shot at the location.
For instance, North by Northwest and popular television series FRIENDS have given reference to Mount
Rushmore.
