SWIM TO RELAX
Swimming is not only a great way to lose weight
and tone your muscles; it is a form of stress relief
and relaxation. It will relieve tension in your
muscles and improve your overall flexibility.

Exercising stiff or tight joints
and muscles is possible
because swimming it is low
impact. This will loosen your
muscles and relieve pain.

Be in your own world where
no one can talk to you and
you are able to think about
whatever you like. Swimming
can be a form of “me time.”

Submerge yourself
underwater and float around
the pool having fun and
forgetting the stressors of the
day.
“Since I tore my ACL playing
basketball I haven’t been able to do
any running or weightlifting.
Swimming helped me stay in shape
because I was able to do all of the
strokes with just my arms.”
-Eric Peterson, Former college
basketball player
“I’ve lost the 20 pounds I had gained
from my second pregnancy and it
took half the time as my first. I tried
swimming instead of jogging and the
results speak for themselves!”

Great Clips
“I have always maintained a healthy
weight but I was never satisfied with
my muscular definition. I had flabby
arms and a stomach pooch that
made me look out-of-shape. I have
fun swimming everyday and now my
arms are sculpted and my stomach
is tight.”

SWIMMING BENEFITS
Swimming is a great way to get in shape and
relieve stress without all of the physical demands
of other exercises.



Low impact, meaning it is not
hard on your joints or muscles
the way that running or lifting
weights is. There is a low-tono injury rate.
Creates long, lean muscles.
While you swim you also
stretch, unlike other exercises
that form short, bulky
muscles.
Have fun while exercising.
When swimming, there is
room to sway from your
workout and have fun gliding
and floating in the water.
TYPES OF WORKOUTS
WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
Several variations of workouts in swimming
make it easy to keep you interested. The most
common are workouts that prepare the swimmer
for a race. Distance training, sprint, Individual
Medley, and stroke workouts are written to
strengthen a swimmer’s performance, but they
are also effective ways to lose weight and tone
muscles.
Swimming burns 25% more calories than
running or any other form of exercise. This will
increase your metabolism, decrease body fat,
build and maintain lean muscles, and train your
body to use stored fat as fuel.
MUSCULAR STRENGTH
AND DEFFINITION
Swimming exercises all of you major muscle
groups. It can develop both the overall strength
and the definition of your muscles. Strong,
defined muscles is what gives you the sleek,
toned look. Swimming achieves both of these at
the same time by increasing your strength while
toning long, lean muscles.
A FUN EXERCISE
Swimming is unlike any other form of exercise.
Consider this:
Running on a boring treadmill for an hour a day,
doing the same repetitive workout and gaining only
half the benefits of swimming.
VS.
Looking forward to that first jump into a refreshing
pool, gliding and diving around while getting a toned
and sexy swimmers body.
While swimming you are working against the
resistance of the water with every stroke and
strengthening your muscles and heart. Long slow
swims improve muscle strength while shorter
sprint swims improve your cardiovascular
endurance.
