DIRECTOR’S NOTES:
A classic of English “drawing room” theatre, this is a compelling and haunting thriller. The story
begins when the mysterious Inspector Goole calls unexpectedly during a peaceful family dinner
at the prosperous Birling family home. He is investigating the death of a young woman. Secrets
are revealed, individual truths are realised, complacency shattered, and a web of deceit is
unearthed as each family member is placed under the spotlight. This is not the end! Intriguing
touches of mystery are yet to come!
NOTE [1] The play is set in 1912, gentlemen will be required to have short back and sides.
NOTE [2] The play will be performed in two Acts not three
