The Diplomat Club’s creation was
inspired by the over 75 Consul
General Missions in the Bay Area,
with the aim of offering a dedicated
setting where they would be able to
utilize The Fairmont San Francisco
and its services as a “home away
from home.” In order to transform
the the 3,700 square foot space,
updated furniture and international
décor were brought in along with
historical photos from diplomatic
visits, which are displayed
throughout the Club.
Located on the Arcade level of the
hotel directly across from its
Intersect Media Lounge, the
Diplomat Club not only offers an
elegant setting for meetings and
business-related events, but also
functions as an ideal venue for a
social soiree, boasting a full bar,
dining area, billiard room and
private dining room.
Since 1907, The Fairmont has
served as the San Francisco
residence for U.S. presidents,
world leaders and entertainment
stars. Often referred to as “The
White House of the West” or
“Residence of Presidents”, The
Fairmont San Francisco has been
the official home base for the San
Francisco Consular Corps for
many years and has celebrated a
number of the most important
and memorable occasions tied to
diplomatic endeavors. In 1945,
The United Nations Charter was
drafted in the hotel’s Garden
Room and its famed Penthouse
Suite was used by U.S. Secretary
of State Edward Stettinius as his
headquarters during the United
Nations Convention.
