David FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT Don’t eat the fruit of a beautiful tree? Go out into the desert without provisions? Are you kidding me? Lent is here! These readings remind you of the boundaries between God and human beings. The words may conjure up feelings of sin, temptation, and failure, but you learn of mercy as well and enter into the mystery of redemption. Did you know? Abstaining and Fasting during Lent Abstaining applies to all Catholics 14 and older and means that they must not eat meat on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays of lent. (Meat is any beef, pork, chicken or fowl.) Fasting applies to all Catholics ages 18-59 and means that they must eat only one full meal on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, which means no snacks between meals. However, two smaller meals, such as breakfast and lunch, can be eaten in addition to the one full meal (supper) as long as they don’t equal the one full meal combined. 40 CANS FOR LENT Please help the less fortunate in our area by bringing each week 7 cans of non-perishable food items for the 40 Cans for Lent Project sponsored by Catholic Charities. Each week a Container will be made available here in the church for you to bring your donated food items. Rice Bowl - For Lent for Life Just $1.00 a day during Lent ($40 total) can provide a family with food for one month. For more information please visit crsricebowl.org.
