S.T.E.M. Rubric (Snapshot, Thoughtshot, Expanded Moment)
Directions:
➡ Reread your 3 drafts. Select one to continue working with through the revision and editing
stages of the writing process. When choosing which piece to continue working with, think
of the reader. Which piece would a reader find the most interesting?
➡ Revise the piece making sure to include the required Snapshots, Thoughtshots, Methods of
Characterization, and Expanded Moment.
➡ Edit the piece. Polish it to perfection!
➡ Completely fill out this rubric.
➡ TURN IN: PREWRITING, DRAFT, REVISED VERSION, FINAL EDITED VERSION,
RUBRIC. Organize the papers in order of completion (prewriting on bottom followed by
the draft ... with the rubric on top.
Writing Technique Requirements
To count towards this rubric, each Snapshot must be 3 or more sentences in
Snapshots length.

UNDERLINE THE EXPANDED MOMENT on the final edited
version of your piece.
To count towards this rubric, the methods of characterization
must all APPLY TO THE SAME CHARACTER. USE A
COLORED PENCIL TO UNDERLINE THE MOC’S.
