SCHOOL UPDATE
Silvana/Christine
DISCUSSION
-Snack sales from Global Initiatives for the Family Fun Fair proceeds to go to Welcome Centre for Newcomers
-Sandhills currently has 34 active social clubs
-Inquiries were made as to why Sandhills school did not promote or have any competitive teams/clubs and
how Sandhills could get involved with such groups-if anyone hears or is aware of such events Silvana and
Christine are open to receiving such information
FINANCIAL UPDATE
Sabrina -Finance
DISCUSSION
-Very difficult for Sabrina to provide current financial updates as it is generated through WRDSB and can
not always access current information but best guesses are:
Busing account $7,800 (does not include recent trips)
Main account $21,000 ($10,000 of that is allocated for next years busing)
Greening acct $2,000 (this is the monies raised from the flower bulbs fundraising)
-Sabrina motioned for clarity on what the busing fund all entailed. Is it for offsite trips and entrance fees
only or is it to include internal programs. Important to have transparency in where the funding is allocated
to. Two requests for funding from School Council for internal programs from this year were received
(Eastwood Troupe performance-$300 and QMAC $847.50)
-Discussion ensued whether to pay for 100% for both events or what percentage. Motion was passed to pay
100% for both events from School Council funds.
-Clarification was established. In the 2016-2017 school year, busing and entrance fees @ school’s discretion
but any internal programming to be presented to school council for approval

PARKING/SAFETY - City of Kitchener/Region of Waterloo/Parents WRDBS representative & Concerned Neighbours
DISCUSSION
-General roundtable discussion with the stakeholders to discuss the ongoing safety and parking concerns at
Sandhills P.S.
-Many parents and neighbours had the chance to voice their ongoing concern and provided the City of
Kitchener and Region of Waterloo to hear first hand the frustrations that parents and neighbours have in
regards to the lack of parking surrounding Sandhills P.S. and provided an opportunity for the City of
Kitchener and Region of Waterloo staff to respond and explain their perspectives as well.
-The discussion ended in a non- resultive solution with no viable long term solution been reached to date
and the City has created a new position to address these ongoing concerns with the intent of finding a
sustainable long term solution hopefully in the very near future
