Specific Gravity Seperator
This equipment operated on physical property - Specific Gravity of material, i.e, two materials having difference in
Specific Gravity can be separate out with this equipment. The basic principle of the Specific Gravity Separator involves
flowing of dry granular material over an inclined vibrating screen. Positive air pressure generated in the chamber of
machines forced up through the screen deck and through the bed of material. This air flow holds material in startified
floatation. The lighter material in upper strata blows down with air and discharged through front end while the heavier
in the lower starta travels uphill along the inclined vibrating deck and discharge from rare end.
Specific Gravity Separator equipment is very useful to separate out char from solid waste byproducts such as stones,
dolomite, burnt lime, partially reduced iron ore, spent flux etc; discharged from rotary kiln in coal based DRI process.
This separator may refer as a dry separation system and having separation cost very less as compared to wet separator
or Jig. Also a dry separation is solution over problems such as dewatering & moisture control which occurs in wet
system. Cleaned coal char may used for recycling with raw material in DRI process, and also useful for mixing with
fuel for Fluidize bed combustion boiler for power plants.
