Flow Cytometry Core Facility - Indiana University Bloomington

INDIANA UNIVERSITY BLOOMINGTON
Flow Cytometry Core Facility
The Flow Cytometry Core Facility (FCCF) is located in Jordan Hall 029 on the IU Bloomington campus. This
facility provides scientists access to state-of-the-art flow cytometry instrumentation for their research.
The facility is equipped with two analyzers for fluorescent detection of cells and particles. Multiple assays
such as cell cycle, apoptosis, fluorescent protein detection, and more can be performed with samples from
bacteria to cultured cells. The facility is also equipped with two sorters, a high-speed cell sorter and a largeparticle sorter. Cell sorters allow specific subsets of populations to be retrieved for downstream culturing or
analysis. Two additional instruments, a cell counter with cell sizing capability and a single-cell PCR
thermocycler, are also available. Sorters are run by a dedicated facility technician. Researchers may be
trained for independent use of the analyzers, cell counter and thermocycler.
