Communion A re
Girls
The Communion Dress is usually white or offwhite, like a bap smal ou it to represent purity.
The shoulders must be covered in church, so if the
dress has spaghe straps, please also bring a covering/shawl.
The dress may have color in it as well. The dress
should be no longer than 3/4 length, allowing the
girls to walk comfortably.
Please do not allow the girls to wear high-heels or
flip flops. Sandals must have a back strap.
Veils are permi ed, but can be no longer than the
dress.
Anklets, stockings, bare legs and knee high socks
are permi ed.
Boys
Boys wear either a suit or dress pants and a sports
jacket. The color does not ma er.
The color of the bu on down dress shirt does not
ma er, but many wear a white shirt as a symbol
of purity, as in Bap sm.
The color of the e does not ma er, but one must
be worn.
Dress shoes are to be worn.
A boy may wear an armband if the family chooses.
This may be worn on either arm.
First Holy Communion Rehearsal
An email reminder will be sent the day prior to
your child’s scheduled rehearsal. The doors will
open 15 minutes before the start me. We ask
that you remind your child to enter the church
reverently and bless themselves with holy water. You will bring your child’s banner to the rehearsal so that we can show you how this is to be
placed on the pew for the First Holy Communion
celebra on. Banners will be taken home at the
end of the rehearsal.
First Holy Communion Day
The church doors will open 30 minutes before
Mass is to begin. We will be inside making sure
the church is clean and presentable for you.
Please do not bang on the doors. We know we
cannot begin without you!
Please quietly enter the church, making sure to
dispose of any water bo les, coffee, gum, etc. before entering, and bless yourself with holy water.
Please bring your banner with you and place it at
the end of the pew, as done in rehearsal. The
communicant will sit closest to the main aisle.
Please sit quietly in the row and one of the staff
members will come to greet you.
An announcement will be made before Mass begins. This will mean all cameras are to be put
away and all phones are to be turned off, as there
is no picture taking from this point on, out of respect for the Sacrament.
A er Mass, you are welcomed to take pictures
inside or outside the church. The St. Rose of Lima
statue in the Narthex and the front of the church
are two places most people take pictures.
Addi onal Dates to Remember
A First Holy Communion prepara on Liturgy
will be held on Tuesday, November 22 or December 20 at 7:00 PM in the Church. Classes
will be assigned to a date. This is an opportunity for your child to learn what takes place
during the Mass as they are preparing for
their First Holy Communion.
A 2nd Grade liturgy will be held on Sunday,
March 12 at the 9:30 AM Mass for families
with last names from A-L and on Sunday,
March 19 at the 9:30 AM Mass for families
with last names from M-Z.

First Holy Communion
will be celebrated at eight liturgies in
April and May
General Informa on
To be able to receive the Sacrament of Holy
Communion, bap zed Catholics must be in a
state of grace, which means free of mortal sin.
Our Pastor, Fr. Ken strongly suggests that all
families preparing for First Holy Communion
a end Reconcilia on as a family.
Reconcilia on is held each Saturday from
2:30-4:30 PM and a er 9:00 AM Mass each
week day. The Reconcilia on Room is in the
narthex of the church. It is also known as the
Parish Library Room.
