Pesticide Safety Education Program
The University of Illinois Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP)
is offering a Private Applicator pesticide training and testing clinic on
Wednesday, January 8, at the Crowne Plaza in conjunction with our
conference. Training starts at 8 a.m., with pre-registration check-in at
7:30 a.m. Private Applicator training is for those applying Restricteduse pesticides to produce agricultural commodity crops on land they
own or control. Essentially, this training is geared toward any type of
farmer, whether agronomic (corn and soybeans) or horticultural (fruits
and vegetables).
Applicators will need to pass a 50-question exam and apply to the IL
Dept. of Agriculture for a 3-year license. Testing will occur 15 minutes
after the training finishes, at approximately 11:45 a.m. Space is
limited and pre-registration is strongly encouraged, as walk-in space
cannot be guaranteed. This training will be a separate registration
process from the conference. Interested applicators can pre-register
on-line after November 1 at www.pesticidesafety.illinois.edu. You can
also register by calling 800-644-2123. Registration fee is $30, which
covers the training and a Private Applicator workbook. The Private
Applicator Training manual may be purchased through the contact
information provided above.
NOTE: Please note that this program is not included as part of the threeday conference registration. You will need to register by following the
instructions above. This program does not include lunch. The conference
is providing information on this program as a courtesy to U of I and also as
a convenience for any of our specialty crop producers who might wish to
participate in this program in conjunction with conference attendance.
