The Inca people wore simple clothing woven from llama or alpace wool or cotton. The emperor and the nobility used finer wools from the vicuna.

Clothing: Everyone dressed in the same fashion in the Inca Empire ­ rich and poor. The quality of the cloth varied. The rich had soft clothes, heavily embroidered. The poor had coarse wool clothes. But the style and shape were the same. Mar 15­10:33 PM

Each person had two sets of clothing ­ one plain for everyday use, and more colorful clothing for ceremonies and special days. The amount of decoration depended on the person's social status.

Men wore a loincloth held by a woolen belt, covered by a sleeveless tunic. Over that they wore a woolen cloak that was also used as a blanket. Men always carried a small pouch over the shoullder to hold personal possessions. Women wore long tunics covered by woolen cloaks that were fastened at the shoulder with metal pins (gold or silver for wealthy women). Both men and women wore sandals or went barefoot.

Each tribe had its own distinctive hairstyle that included combs, ribbons, or feathers. Members of the nobility wore fancier clothing and decorations, as well as jewelry, earpluag (gold disks worn in the ear lobe) and gold arm bands. Mar 17­9:08 PM
