of supervised driving during the first six months in the
Graduated Driving License program. Please sign this
form and return it to the driver education teacher
listed above prior to any unsupervised driving.

Graduated Driving License Law in Delaware
At the age of sixteen, individuals who successfully pass a stateapproved driver education course may enter the Graduated Driver
License program. During the first 6-months, the teen driver must
have adult supervision at all times. Seat belts must be used, cellular
phones may be used in emergencies, and only one passenger may be
in the vehicle. Also, a parent or guardian shall certify that the teen
driver has completed 50-hours of driving time, which shall include
10-hours of nighttime driving. This log book shall be signed by the
parent or guardian and submitted to the driver education teacher at
the end of the first 6-month period.

LICENSE RESTRICTIONS:
Parents are reminded that seatbelts must be used at all times and the
following restrictions apply:

First six months from date Level 1 permit issued:
• Supervised driving at all times
• Permit must be in the possession of the permit holder.
Second six months from date of issue:
• Unsupervised driving from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.
• Supervised driving only from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. except
traveling to and from church activities, work activities,
and the permit holder’s school activities (on school
property only).
• Permit must be in the possession of the permit holder.
