CAAA ALUMNI AWARD CATEGORIES
JERRY W. FIELDER MEMORIAL AWARD
This award recognizes a UC Davis graduate for service to and support of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association, the
UC Davis Foundation and the university. The award was established in 1973 to perpetuate and honor the lifelong
interests of one of the university’s most esteemed and supportive alumni, Jerry W. Fielder ’39 (1915–1972). Specific
criteria used during the selection process includes service to and support of 1) UC Davis, 2) the Cal Aggie Alumni
Association and 3) the UC Davis Foundation.
DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
This award honors a graduate of UC Davis whose professional, personal and community service accomplishments
since graduation reflect exemplary and outstanding performance and achievement. Specific criteria used during the
selection process include 1) a culmination of lifetime achievements, 2) service to the university and 3) community and
public service.
EMIL M. MRAK INTERNATIONAL AWARD
This award recognizes a graduate of UC Davis who is distinguished in his or her career or in service outside the
United States. Specific criteria used during the selection process include 1) advancement of their profession outside
the United States, 2) outstanding contributions in research or public service that benefit the country served and 3)
outstanding service and problem solving outside the United States.
OUTSTANDING ALUMNUS(A) AWARD
This award honors a UC Davis graduate who is in the mid-point of his or her career, and who has displayed
outstanding achievement, promoted innovative change and made key contributions professionally, to the community
and to UC Davis. Specific criteria used during the selection process include 1) career achievement, 2) leading innovative change in their fields, 3) community and public service and 4) service to the university.
YOUNG ALUMNUS(A) AWARD
This award recognizes a graduate of UC Davis who has received a degree from UC Davis within the past 10 years,
and has made outstanding contributions professionally, to the community or to UC Davis. Specific criteria used during the selection process include 1) contributions to profession, 2) community service and 3) UC Davis volunteerism.
AGGIE SERVICE AWARD
This award honors a UC Davis graduate who has demonstrated exemplary Aggie pride and dedication to UC
Davis through personal commitment of time, energy, volunteerism and leadership, furthering the Cal Aggie Alumni
Association or the University of California, Davis. Specific criteria for this award include 1) commitment of personal
time and energy, 2) personal leadership and 3) service to the Cal Aggie Alumni Association or UC Davis.
DISTINGUISED FRIEND AWARD
This award recognizes a non-alumnus(a) whose extraordinary service has advanced the university and made
significant and lasting contributions to the campus. The honoree’s professional, personal, civic and philanthropic
pursuits must reflect the high standards and values associated with UC Davis, the Cal Aggie Alumni Association and
higher education. Specific selection criteria include 1) exceptional interest, dedication and/or service to UC Davis and
2) dedication and commitment that have significantly enriched and contributed to the reputation of UC Davis. This
award will be given only in years when a deserving recipient is identified.

2018 CAAA ALUMNI AWARDS CHECKLIST
Should your nominee be selected, you will be asked to collect and forward the
following information:
A biography, résumé, C.V. or any available press materials about the nominee.
One recent, posed, high resolution (300 dpi) digital headshot of the nominee.
If possible, this should be sent with the nomination.
We will also seek your assistance in obtaining the following:
• 20 - 30 photographs of the nominee to be included in a video presentation to be shown the
night of the ceremony. We would like a variety of photographs from both his/her personal and professional life and photos of their time here at UC Davis. Please scan and send them
electonically. Special arrangements can be made to return originals.
• Names and addressess of anyone you or the nominee would like invitations sent to. The Cal Aggie Alumni Association will host the awardee and their selected guest. If you have additional guests you would like to invite, tickets can be purchased at
www.alumni.ucdavis.edu/rsvp or by contacting CAAA at (530) 752-0286. Registration and Sponsorship information will be available beginning in late October 2017.
