POSITION:
EDUCATION ASSISTANT
5 hours per week
This is a permanent position.
SALARY:
$15.75 – $19.20 per hour (Category 2)
$17.78 – $21.62 per hour (Category 3)
NOON HOUR ASSISTANT
10 hours per week
This is a permanent position.
SALARY:
$14.97 – $15.71 per hour (Category 1)
WORK SCHEDULE: 10-month traditional school calendar
LOCATION:
St. Jean Brebeuf School
5030 Northland Drive. NW
OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Education Assistant works in the classroom assisting students with diverse learning needs. This includes those who
have severe social, emotional and communication needs and/or reflect an Educational Support I (ES – I) learning profile.
The Noon Hour Assistant provides supervision and direction to students, and general assistance throughout the school.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:











Assists students individually and in small groups
Assists students with self-care (dressing, toileting, etc.)
Assists with testing and recording results
Provides general supervision of students during out of class time
Assists in planning and supervising field trips
Photocopying, typing, computer data entry, phoning, bulletin boards, preparing charts and teaching material
Contributes to planning class activities, behaviour and progress reviews
Assists with the delivery of Individualized Program Plans
Supervises students in the lunchroom, hallways and playground
Oversees students operating the school store
Assists in the classroom, office or library as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:




Education:
o Category 2: High school diploma or equivalent
o Category 3: Degree, Diploma or Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent of a
minimum one (1) year full-time post-secondary course study may be considered
May require any of the following depending upon assignment:
o Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Certificates
o Behaviour management training
o Lifting techniques
o Rehabilitation experience
o Restrictive intervention practices
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Office software
