CLARINET CAMP – An exciting summer opportunity for our clarinet students on June 19-23, 2017. There will be a new clarinet camp at
the Pasadena Conservatory of Music featuring a wonderful group of teachers and guest artists. This link contains more details about the camp
and can be used to register: https://pasadenaconservatory.asapconnected.com/CourseDetail.aspx?CourseId=131549
•
DINKLE AND WARM-UP DONATIONS – We are currently accepting donations of good-condition black Dinkles (marching band shoes)
and warm-ups from senior band and color guard students who may no longer need or want them. These can be used next season for students
who cannot afford to purchase their own apparel. Contact Mrs. Arevelo at: [email protected] to arrange for a donation or bring items to
donate to the final Booster Club meeting of the year on May 18th. Thank you so much for your donations!
•
DR. MARSTON (OUR TROMBONE MASTERCLASS TEACHER) AND HER BRASS ENSEMBLE! – Omni Brass will present a
camp for brass and percussion students on June 23-24, 9am-4pm daily at Diamond Bar HS, with a concert on Saturday evening at 5pm
(friends and family invited). The cost of the camp is $150, and we have scholarships available for qualified students. We would LOVE to see
a huge group of Los Osos brass students at the camp! This will make the individuals (and our band) better! You can find out more about the
camp program at: http://www.omnibrass.org
•
DONATIONS NEEDED – The band and color guard program is in immediate need of donations of the following items. The school budget
does not provide for these items. If each student could commit to bring even one item throughout the semester, it would be greatly
appreciated, and will help preserve our precious budget money for more urgent issues like instrument repair. Thanks so much to those who
have already donated!
1)
2)
3)
4)
1” wide blue painters’ tape.
9 volt batteries for our metronomes.
Glass cleaner.
“Glade” plug-ins
•
NEW TROMBONE DONATIONS – Now in its 15th year, our program has some aging instruments. Like last year’s euphonium
fundraising drive (and the tenor sax, bass clarinet and Sousaphone ones in prior years - THANKS for making those become a reality!) we are
kicking-off a drive to purchase two new Bach 42 trombones at a cost of $2,200.00 each. Donors of $50.00 or more will have their names
printed in concert programs throughout the school year. We extend a HUGE thank you to the following donors thus far! Please help us
make this a reality!

ROBIN LEWIS-DiMARIO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP DONATIONS – This scholarship is an award given to a senior in the Los
Osos Band, Orchestra & Color Guard who is college bound, demonstrates a strong work ethic and leadership skills, has a GPA of 2.5 or
higher, and is community-minded. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist a deserving senior with the expenses of college, such as text
books, tuition, school supplies, etc... It will be an annual award at the Awards Night in remembrance of Robin Lewis-DiMario who was a
Booster Club Executive Board Member, Chaperone Coordinator, and parent of Angelo DiMario who was a member of the program from
2008-2012. She was a woman of integrity, strong moral character, and a strong supporter of the band program. Through her passing, her

COLOR GUARD JUMPSTART SESSION!
Hello Color Guard families!
I would like to share an important announcement for our 2017-2018 Color Guard performers and families on behalf of Instructor José Lujan.
The Guard will have three planned "Jumpstart" practices. Please dress comfortably in fitness oriented clothing (absolutely no denim shorts or
pants!). Bring a light snack, water bottle, sun block and any equipment (flag, rifle, etc.) you may have at home.
Jumpstart Dates:
Tuesday, June 13, 2017
Tuesday, June 27, 2017
Tuesday, July 18, 2017
Time:
2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Location:
Los Osos High School
(Quad outside Band Hall)
These "Jumpstart" practices are for the benefit of the student performers to prepare for Regiment Camp in July. We encourage all student
members to attend, but understand that some families may have vacations planned during one of these practices. If you are unable to attend
due to another planned event, please advise the guard captain, Claire Brown at 909-641-1008.
Lastly, please plan to arrive early and ready to go for all practices and performances. As with any scheduled event, call time is focus time, so
performers should always be dressed as instructed and ready to go at call time. If performers have any questions, they should be directed first
to the color guard captain, then to instructors and staff. General questions can be directed to me if the captain and staff are not available (e.g.
during practices and performances).
Cheers!

Happy Father’s Day!!!
Upcoming Schedule of Events:
•
UPDATES are listed in bold type!
•
Please do not prioritize this list! All events listed here carry equal weight and importance in our minds and for our program. A
parade performance is as important as a football game, as a booster club meeting, as a concert festival, as a jazz band event at the
junior high school, as field show championships. If it’s on this list, it’s required, and it’s important. Please know this!
•
In addition to the school-day class-time rehearsals and the events listed below, Regiment (band and guard) students also participate in weekly
marching band rehearsal every Tuesday evening from 5:30-8:30pm in the football stadium, beginning on the first week of school through
until winter break.
•
In addition to the school-day class-time rehearsal and the events listed below, all band and color guard students also participate in a weekly
master class rehearsal every Tuesday afternoon from 4:15-5:15pm at the band hall and quad area, beginning the first week of school through
until the last week of school.
•
In addition to the school-day class-time rehearsals and the events listed below, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble and Winter Guard students also
participate in weekly rehearsals every Tuesday evening, beginning in January and extending through until the last week of school.
•
“Call Time Sheets” which give specific details (when and where to arrive, what to wear, what to bring with you, etc.) will be posted on this
“Weekly” page approximately one week prior to the scheduled event.

Information Will Be Posted
Here in July/August 2017
*Please make note of these important dates as you plan your schedules – students
who are absent from the activities listed above may be dropped from the program.
Please do not prioritize this list! All events listed here carry equal weight and
importance in our minds and for our program. A parade performance is as
important as a football game, as a booster club meeting, as a concert festival, as a
jazz band event at the junior high school, as field show championships. If it’s on
this list, it’s required, and it’s important. Please know this!
Advanced-planning and accountability are very crucial to the success of our
program!
GO OSOS!
