My sincerest thanks to everyone who tried out. You were a delightful and extremely talented group.
We could have cast this show many different ways because of the variety of your talents. We’re excited
to be able to do a great show with the cast that we chose. We could still use a few more people
(especially men) so if you know of people who are interested in being a part of this outstanding
theatrical experience, please have them get in touch with me. Rehearsals will begin April 24, in the
room where we held tryouts, where we’ll pass out scripts and music, read thru the play, assign a variety
of additional parts.
Please don’t assume that because you don’t have lines in the show (very few characters actually have
lines) that you won’t have a major part. One of the reasons I chose this version of the show is because
of the great dance music and the world-class choreographer we have. You can assume that, unless you
are Fred, Lilli, Bill, Lois or the 2 Gangsters, you will likely be dancing in many of the musical numbers.
You will work hard, but will have the opportunity to be part of one of the best shows of your career.
I know some people will be disappointed by our decisions. I’ve been disappointed many times when I
was trying out as you are. I want anyone who wants to talk about our casting decisions to please call me

we did what we did. Please understand that most of our decisions were based on considerations other
than your talent, and on things over which you have no control (i.e., your height, vocal range, age,
height of the person playing opposite you, etc.).
