She is constructed of high-tech carbon fiber, measures 86
feet from stem to stern with a 100 foot mast and a 14 foot
keel, and her biggest sail is 5,000 square feet. “Ocean” is
the largest sailboat ever to be displayed at an indoor boat
show, and will be the Featured Yacht at the center of the
Progressive Insurance Strictly Sail Chicago Show, January
26 – 29, at Navy Pier.
“Getting the boat into the show is a major undertaking”
said Kasey Iwasyk, Operations Manager of Pinnacle
Yachts, the firm that owns and operates the vessel. On a
specially designed truck that is about 125 feet long, the
yacht will make its way from its winter home at Larsen
Marine in Waukegan, winding through the streets of
Chicago to a special staging area on the city s south side.
