Activities to try at home
Welcome to the March and April edition of our Activities at Home.
Our topic for these months are Natural and Man Made Materials
and Houses and Homes . Within the setting as always we have lots
of fun activities planned for the children which you will be informed
of over the up and coming weeks and for your attention we have
collated a variety of activities and events for you to enjoy at home
and in the local community with your family. Have fun!
LETS BUILD A HOUSE!

Things to create
Treasure Basket Fun
measuring spoons, shiny tissue paper, scoop, CD,
mirror, napkin rings, bead necklace, toy metal pot,
metal desk organizer cup, and tea infuser
a wooden bowl, a couple massagers, a wooden bracelet
with ribbons attached, a giant clothes pin, a picture
frame, a block, a puzzle piece, and a bracelet of
wooden beads
Fabric spider, Crochet rattle, Knitted rabbit, Poached
egg cup, Soft scrub brush, Large crochet flower, Bit
of ribbon, Star shaped cookie cutter, Cow
Whisk, Small measuring cup, Spoon,Small tin w/
cheerios, napkin,Cake mold,Tiny creamer w/ handle
Ramadan Moon & Star
What you will need:
Paper plate
Scissors
Foam stickers
Yellow paint
Blue paint
Sponge brush
Thin ribbon
Small hole punch
Newspaper
1.Draw out a crescent moon shape on your paper
plate. In the middle of that opening, draw out a star
shape.
2. Cut out the moon and star shape.
3. Lay out your newspaper and paint the star and
moon.
4. Take the paper backing off the foam letters and
place them on the paper plate. If you don't have the
handy letters that come as stickers, you'll need to glue
down your letters.
5. Hole punch your paper plate. You'll only need one
punch.
6. Pull your ribbon through the moon hole punch and
tie another knot, so your star won't slip. Enjoy your
wall decoration

Birmingham Eid Mela celebrates the diversity of
the Muslim Community in Birmingham through its
culture, food, sport, art and entertainment. Now
in its 14th year, the festival is bigger and better
than ever and there is something for everyone to
celebrate.
The importance of Birmingham Eid Mela is that it
is a celebration of Eid which marks the end of

Butterfly Walk
When: Sun 20 Jul
Where:Sarehole Mill
Join this guided walk and be part of the National
Butterfly Survey. Help monitor these fluttery
creatures with a gentle stroll along the river Cole,
looking for, counting and learning about butterflies.
All data will be recorded as part of the national
butterfly survey. This walk is ranger led. 10.30am12.30pm. Free event . Leaving from the carpark at
Sarehole Mill at 10.30am.
On return to the mill other butterfly themed
activities will take place at the mill. There will be
craft activities (making large bamboo butterflies
with artist Jim Morris) and the rangers will host a
display on the life of the butterfly. Also on
display will be drawers with butterflies from the
Natural History collection (Birmingham Museums
Trust). These 'butterfly drawers' are normally
stored at the Museum Collection Centre
