Beit enacted, etc., as follows: Section 1 of chapter 351 of the acts of 1972 is hereby amended by striking out, in line 5, the word "police" and inserting in place thereof the word: — fire.. ' Approved July 11, 1972. Chap. 669. AN A C T AUTHORIZING T H E CITY OF SPRINGFIELD TO AP- P R O P R I A T E MONEY FOR THE PAYMENT OF, AND TO PAY, CERTAIN UNPAID BILLS. Be it enacted, etc., as follows: SECTION 1. The city of Springfield is hereby authorized to appropriate money for the payment of, and after such appropriation the treasurer of said city is hereby authorized to pay, such unpaid bills incurred by said city and totalling one hundred fifty-five thousand two hundred ninety-nine dollars and fifteen cents, as are set forth in a list on file in the office of the director of accounts in the department of corporations and taxation, said bills being legally unenforceable against said city, by reason of having been incurred in excess of available appropriations, and as are certified for payment by the following departments, boards or committees wherein the bills were contracted; provided, that the money so appropriated to pay such bills shall be raised by taxation or made available from unappropriated surplus funds of the city: city clerk, one thousand five hundred twenty dollars and seventy cents; public buildings department, four thousand two hundred two dollars and eighty-six cents; public'parks, six hundred ninety-one dollars and fourteen cents; and veterans' service, one hundred forty-eight thousand eight hundred eighty-four dollars and forty-five cents. SECTION 2. No bill shall be approved by the city auditor of said city for payment or paid' by the treasurer thereof under authority of this act unless and until a certificate has been signed and filed with said city auditor, stating under the penalties of perjury that the goods, materials or services for which said bill was submitted were ordered by an official or an employee of said city, and that such goods and materials were delivered to and actually received by said city or that such services were rendered to said city, or both. SECTION 3. Any person who knowingly files a certificate required by section two, which is false and who thereby receives payment for goods, materials or services which were not received by or rendered to ACTS, 1972.—CHAP. 670. 529 said city, shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than one year or by a fine of not more than three hundred dollars. SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its acceptance during the current year by the city of Springfield. Approved July 11,1972. Chap. 670. A N ACT AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MELEOSE TO TRANSFER CERTAIN PARK LAND IN SAID CITY FROM THE PARK COMMISSION TO THE SCHOOL DEPARTMENT OF SAID CITY.
