Westside Christian has received re-accreditation as a result of the study conducted by the visiting WELSSA team two weeks ago. The team commended our school for a “positive, loving, Christ-centered environment” and for “show(ing) joyful, Christian relationships between parents, students, faculty, and staff.” The report also helped set improvement goals for the school as WCS works toward doing all things in excellence. Thank you to all who helped with this accreditation process, and to God be the glory. This year we are teaming with Camp Phillip to bring pieces of traditional summer camp to our half-day, week-long Summer Day Camp. Our theme is IWITNESS NEWS, hearing from the witnesses who walked with and learned from Jesus. Summer Day Camp is open to children in 4K through grade 8 (children entering 4K MUST be 4-years-old before 9/1/2017). Students entering grades 7 and 8 are invited to participate at camp as “Counselors in Training.” Students will find direction in God’s Word for serving others, then put these leadership lessons into practice by guiding and directing some of the recreational activities for younger ages at camp with the help of teen and adult mentors. Register now! 3 Year Olds: Ms. Sue Martalock Grades 5 – 8: Mrs. Mary Hochmuth What do construction hats, stethoscopes, traffic signs, and tooth brushes have in common? They are all tools that our community helpers use. People in every town do things to help the community run smoothly. We discovered many jobs that have to be done in our town so that it functions properly. We had lots of fun making our own traffic lights and mail pouches. Watch for our news next week! 4K: Mrs. Ann Krentz Watch for our news next week! Kindergarten: Mrs. Karen Hong This week we are studying the letters “X” and “Y” and their sounds. Hot Rod is the Supernoodle, and he is helping us to have fun reusing and recycling materials in creative ways. What will happen when the Superkids turn ordinary boxes into flying machines, tents, and other imaginative objects? The texts provide opportunities to discuss creativity, imagination, recycling, and caring for our environment. We are thankful to take care of the wonderful earth the God created for us! Grades 1 & 2: Mrs. Ashley Renstrom Students are enjoying using rhythm instruments in music class. They are taking turns with sticks, drums, and tambourines. They are all improving their rhythm skills and note reading ability. We thank God for the gift of music! Grades 3 & 4: Ms. Kim Gnewuch Bible Lesson This week’s lessons focus on how Christ’s disciples boldly confess their faith in Jesus. First, in Acts 3 and 4:4 we will learn how Peter healed the lame man and preached God’s Word in Jesus’ name. God also wants us to spread his Word in Jesus’ name. Thursday’s lesson will share how Peter and John confessed Jesus boldly and courageously in Acts 4:1-31. God wants us to confess Jesus to others. We can trust that the Holy Spirit will help us confess Jesus boldly to our friends and neighbors.
