GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE
Credit No. 5727-mm.
Project ID No. P152936
The Republic of the Union of Myanmar has applied for financing in the amount of US$400 million
equivalent from the World Bank toward the cost of the National Electrification Project, and it
intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods and consulting services to be procured
under this project.
The project will include the following components:
Grid extension component, which will support extension of distribution network and connection of
households to the national power grid;
Off-grid electrification component, which will provide electricity to communities located beyond the reach
of the national power grid;
Technical assistance and project management; and
Contingent emergency response.
It is currently envisaged that International competitive bidding (ICB) method (procurement of
goods) will be used for procurement of certain equipment and materials for the components (1)
and (2) above. Various consulting services will be procured under the component (3).
Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank will be conducted through the procedures
as specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loansand IDA Credits
(current edition), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines.Consulting
services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and
Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition).
Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank's international
competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for contracts for consultancy services will be
announced, as they become available, in UN Development Business and dgMarket,and on the
website of the Ministry of Electric Power of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar
www.moep.gov.mm .
