GENERAL CLEAN UP
IT IS A STEAL AT
QUIET CEMETERY—Inconjunction with the History of East Moriches,
which will be the topic for discussion at tonight's meetingof the
East Moriches Civic Association ,The Advance camera did a little
searching on its own. Top photo shows older section of Mount
Pleasant Cemetery in East Moriches where many of the original
settlers of East Moriches are interred. The oldest tombstone
we could find dated back to 1801. Bottom photo shows monument
to a departed member of the Osborn family, one of the oldest
families in East Moriches. Epitaph below the name reads, "Reader,
come and view this spot. And think how soon 'twill be your lot.
To lie and moulder in the clay: Until the last great judgement
day. A Saviour then I hope to see. Prepare my friends to follow me."
