Valentine Math Box
Project
Students will design and decorate a Math Valentine Box. It will be our
Valentine mailbox that we will use to collect our cards. This project is to be
completed at home and the Math Box will count as a Math project grade.
1. Students will choose a box of any shape and size that will fit on top
of their desks (not too big!)
2. The box should be decorated for Valentine’s Day using any
materials such as glitter, stickers, doilies, etc.
3. The box décor must contain the following math concepts (please
label them (they can be drawn, cut out of paper or magazines or
even things you have around the house that you want to glue on the
box):
a. Rectangle 2x8 inches containing student’s first name in large
letters
b. 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication problem
c. a long division problem
d. a fraction that equals .45
e. 2 equivalent fractions
f. 2 congruent shapes (same size & same shape)
g. Heart with a line of symmetry marked
h. 4x8 Multiplication array
i. Family of Facts (addition & subtraction)
j. Family of Facts (multiplication & division)
k. 5-digit number written in expanded notation
l. 4-digit number written in words
