Unit Plan Dates: 1/26 - 2/6 Class: Spanish Level 1 Topic: Los Pasatiempos Language Objectives: • • First Week (1/26 - 1/30) - pgs.87 - 95 o Introduction to Chapter 3 in Paso a Paso o Review Gustar and talk about gustaría o Learn how to describe hobbies, sport and things to do for fun Second Week (2/2 - 2/6) - pgs. 87 - 95 o Learn how to talk about things in the future (ir + a + infinitive) o Learn poder and querer o Culture: Writing to someone in a Spanish-Speaking Country (Authentic) Content Objectives: • Week 1 o Use the language to discuss hobbies and sports o Understand Gustaría o Vocabulary • Week 2 o Talk about events in the simple future tense o Write postcard to someone in a Spanish-speaking country - review + future o Converse using simple future tense Goals: • Students should be able to reuse vocabulary at a later date • Be able to talk about (written and verbal) in simple future tense • Be able to conjugate poder and querer • Be able to talk about self and favorite activities and sports in target language Major learning activities: • Bingo to help review/remember vocabulary • Powerpoint to introduce students to hobbies and sports vocabulary (chapter 3 in Paso a Paso) • Una Tarjeta Postal project - send letter to American student studying in Ecuador • Partner dialogue activity to discuss future activities in target language • Worksheets/Book work Assessment: I will be able to monitor students progress through their written work and how well their work reflects off of what they learned in the class these two weeks. Checking the accuracy of the postcard and their worksheets while also listening to their conversations during partner dialogues, I can verify that they are understanding the basic vocabulary and grammar structures provided in this chapter. Everyday, students have a bell ringer activity where they have problems or questions to answer involving the previous days instruction. After they work on it alone, I call on students to come to the board to answer the questions. As a class, we correct the answers and go over any mistakes or problems that students might have from the previous day. Finally, at the end of the unit plan, there will be a written quiz to see how well the students grasped the information they learned in the past two weeks.
