Describing Words
Based on your observations, write
a hypothesis about which soil you
think would be best for growing
plants. Your hypothesis should be
an If/Then statement and should
refer to pore space.
Example: If we go outside
without a jacket in this weather
then we will be cold.
Make a list of words that could be
used to describe each of the soil
particles. Each list must have 5
words.

Draw a picture (using at
least 4 colors) showing
why you think that soil
pore space is important
to plant growth.
Slogan
Create a slogan or phrase to go along with
your picture.
Explanation
Write a paragraph (5 sentences)
explaining the reasoning for your
hypothesis and how you artwork and
slogan represents what you know about
soil particles and pore space.
