A Prayer for Peace We gather together to pray for peace. “Blessed are the Persecuted...” Joan of Arc suffered an unimaginable death. She had a vision of Peace that led her down a path of violence to her own violent end. Her courage and persistence in the pursuit of peace in her time teaches us that leadership comes from the heart and mind working together. Today many are persecuted in the pursuit of Peace and suffer from oppression and abuse of their human rights from Governments around the globe. The flames that engulfed Joan of Arc still burn in the hearts of many who courageously stand for an end to violence against all of creation. Let us take a moment in silent reflection. For people around the globe, in particular those who live under unstable or repressive governments, who are persecuted in their efforts to bring Peace to their communities, we pray: God of Freedom, hear us For the people and the land in communities that have suffered natural disaster as a result of human action, we pray: God of Freedom, hear us For people who fan the flames of exclusion and intolerance may they experience the quenching love of Christ in their own lives, we prayer: God of Freedom, hear us For our policy makers, that they hear the voices of the persecuted and develop policies that contribute to a peaceful and just world for all, we pray God of Freedom, hear us Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Let Peace Prevail on Earth
