Oregon's ACT results: High schools show no improvement in preparing students for college
Fewer than half of Oregon graduates who take the ACT test are equipped to pass their first year of college. Much
needs to change if the state is to reach its goal of having 80 percent of high school graduates earn a two-year degree
or other college credential by 2025. Read the article in Oregon.live here:

Oregon Employment Department launches new microsite
Oregon Employment Department (ODE) has created a .jobs microsite through DirectEmployers. What is a microsite?
For employers, it's a way to get qualified applicants. For job seekers, it's a way to see more jobs in one location and
apply directly on company websites. DirectEmployers (over a year ago) set up each state with a top-level .jobs
domain. Ours is Oregon.jobs. A microsite is built 'underneath' that. Our microsite is workinoregon.jobs.
This microsite includes jobs from the US.Jobs download from DirectEmployers and jobs that are listed within
iMatchSkills. The microsite is mobile-ready and allows a jobseeker to apply for a position directly from their smart
phone. Or they can share the employment opportunity on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc... If the jobs are managed
by WSO staff, the microsite will direct the jobseeker to contact a WorkSource Oregon center.
Please provide your feedback about the site to Kristin Kahler Jones, Integration and Training Manager at OED,
[email protected].
The Mission of the Oregon Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development is to contribute leadership
and resources to increase the skills, knowledge and career opportunities of Oregonians.
