This can only be done by all teaching staff and support staff working together to achieve the highest standards possible in the classroom. All staff must be professional, respectful and fully supportive of each others roles within the school at all times. All staff have a responsibility to implement all the policies and procedures that are in place. School policies are available on the P drive. Staff must ensure that all children are dressed appropriately at all times and inform parents if this isn’t the case. 2|Page Staff Code of Conduct Staff We expect high standards of dress from our children therefore as adults we need to be good role models and always give careful consideration to how we dress and act. To ensure consistency across the school it is important that the message given to pupils about expectations for clothing is reflected in the professional clothing choices of all staff. E.g. No jeans, or flip-flops, short skirts/dresses, low cut tops, uncovered shoulders (i.e. no “spaghetti straps” on summer clothes), sports clothes when not teaching sports etc. Whilst it is not possible to list every possible clothing option here, it is expected that staff will support the safer code of professional conduct and will dress in a way that reflects the high esteem we are held in by children and their families. • Staff should wear PE clothes and trainers when teaching PE and Games lessons. Collared polo shirts are preferred and clothing should not contain large logos. To be consistent with the expectations of the children, staff should change into these for the morning or afternoon period whenever the lesson is taught and PE clothes should not be worn throughout the day. • Teaching assistants attending to support the learning of pupils in a PE or Games lesson should at a minimum have a change of appropriate shoes. • Whenever in school e.g. undertaking PPA or subject leadership responsibilities staff should maintain a high standard of professional dress. • When on school outings children are expected to wear full school uniform. To be consistent with the expectation of the children, staff should wear professional clothing to reflect our high standards. • To maintain a professional appearance and to be consistent with the high expectation placed on children and the families of the Lessness Heath community, the wearing of casual items such as jeans, sports clothing, football team clothing or items of clothing that could be deemed by others as too revealing is not acceptable. • Footwear should be both safe and in keeping with professional dress (ie shoes, not sandals, flip-flops or Ugg boots) • Due to health and safety reasons the wearing of flip flops and baring shoulders is not allowed. No smoking All council premises are subject to a total smoking ban. Signed:………………………………............. C Ball, Head Teacher Date:…………………… Signed:………………………………………...
