Fidget Spinners: The Latest Craze!

Fidget spinners are the most popular things in the world right now! Did you know
that spinners can be different? They can be different colors like: red, yellow, and
blue, or green, orange and also light blue and light green. Another thing about
Fidget spinners is that they are cheap, so they don’t cost a lot. Another thing about
Fidget spinners is that some glow in the dark and some have drawings on them.
There are debates over whether or not Fidget spinners should be allowed in
schools. What do you think?

The Oregon Trail

For Christmas, I got a cool game called The Oregon Trail. The Oregon Trail is a
card game based on a classic computer game. In the game you have to work
together to get passed the Oregon Trail. You use calamity cards and supply cards.
You also have to be careful, or else you could die from inadequate grass, measles,
a broken tongue (the thing on the back of the wagon), or a thief could steal your
food, clothes, and bullets. You could also have problems with dead oxen, a snake
bite, or dysentery. Your supply cards can save you. The supply cards are oxen,
spare parts, food, and clean water. There are supply cards of 100 bullets, medicine,
and clothes too.
This game is for 2-6 players. You have to put the start card 3 feet away from the
finish card. You get passed the Oregon Trail by using trail cards. When you get 5
trail cards on the Oregon Trail, you have to pile them on top of each other. Some
trail cards say, “If you roll an even number, you forge the river. If you roll an odd
number you lose a calamity card. Sometimes if you roll a one you drown.
The game also includes a dry erase board with a marker. On the front it says, “Put
your name here”. On the back it has little tombstones. If you die, on the tombstone
you have to write, “Here lies..., died of… At least one person will survive the
Oregon Trail. I hope you try it sometime!

My Family

My family is AMAZING to me. My family is amazing to me because I love them.
I have six family members including me. I’m the youngest. My sibling’s names are
Eddie, Andie, and Khallie. My family is super nice and funny. They are nice
because whenever I am sad they always find a way to cheer me up. They are funny
because they make super funny jokes!
My big sister loves makeup, but I don’t. Whenever I want to play with her it is
either a make-over or nothing. Sometimes we play soccer. It is so fun to play
soccer with my family, because we always make teams with one boy and one girl
on each team, or two boys on each team, and two girls on each team. We mostly
have one boy and one girl. The boys almost always win.
It is super fun whenever it is night time and we watch a movie in the living room.
My mom brings snacks and drinks like Gatorade, water, apple juice, or fruit punch
and O.J. For snacks my mom gets potato chips, Doritos, pound cake, or fruit, apple
pie and Cannoli.
My dad is AMAZING too! My dad is amazing because he is so funny. He is the
best cook too!! Once we went to the library and got movies. Then we went to
Seven Eleven to get Slurpees and candy. Then we went to McDonalds. It was
awesome! I love my family!

Have you ever read books like The Genius Files, My Weirder School, or The
Homework Machine? Well believe it or not, all of those books were written by the
same author, Dan Gutman. He was born in New York City on October 19, 1955.
When he was one, his family moved to Newark, New Jersey, where he spent his
childhood. He attended Rutgers University, which is also in New Jersey. At first he
wanted to get a degree in Psychology. Then he realized that he didn't like
psychology. He decided that what he really wanted to do was become a writer. So
he moved back to New York City.
Dan’s first essays weren’t all that funny, even though some did get published. His
first check was for $15. He hung the check over his desk to make him determined
to write something better. He thought that he had good book ideas, but publishers
weren’t interested in them. He received hundreds of rejection letters.
In 1992, he decided to try to write for children. He never thought he would be good
at writing a story, but he gave it a try. After he sold his first novel and saw how
much kids loved the book, he knew that writing fiction for kids was what he should
do for his career.
In my opinion, Dan Gutman is one of the best children’s book authors, because he
can get me to laugh when I am reading one of his books. I would recommend his
books to anyone.

Tips for Writing a Book Report

Here are some tips I found to help you write a book report.
Introduction
Give your book report an introduction and a title.
Reading Rainbow Tip: Was the title interesting? Did the cover spark your
curiosity? Was it something else? Talk about why you chose the book to help your
classmates understand more about you!
The Setting
Describe the setting so your reading knows where the story takes place.
Reading Rainbow Tip: Think about WHEN the story takes place, WHERE it all
happens, and how much TIME passes from start to finish. Describe the setting so
your classmates feel like they are INSIDE the story!
Reading Rainbow Tip: Find an image online that resembles the setting of your
story.
The Characters
Describe the important characters in the book.
Reading Rainbow Tip: Who is the main character? Do they have any friends or
helpers? Is there someone who challenges the main character? Instead of just
naming people, talk about what makes each person memorable.
Reading Rainbow Tip: Find an image online of the main character.
Plot
Tell the main part of the plot.
1. Beginning: What happened at the beginning?
2. Middle: Usually the highest point of the action in the story.
3. Ending: How did everything finally work out?
Reading Rainbow Tip: Think about the most important events in the story. Be
careful not to re-tell the whole story, but give enough detail so that the plot makes
sense to someone who hasn’t read the book.
Conclusion
Tell how the story ended and if you enjoyed reading it.

Team Rocket who Tried…

There once were characters called Team Rocket. Team Rocket was looking for
Ash and the Twerps. I don’t know why, but Team Rocket was looking for them.
The problem was Ash, (He’s a good guy along with his friends). Somehow, they
always get away. They lose Pikachu too. Pikachu is a mouse Pokémon. They
needed a solution. They decided to make a trap. But the trap never works. In the
end, Team Rocket learned that catching Pikachu is hard. The moral is: Don’t steal
anyone’s Pokémon!

Our Coloring Books

My friends, Makayla, Valeria, Tatiana and I did this fundraiser, at the beginning of
March, in school. We raised $115, and had to work very hard for this to happen!
We drew coloring books, stapled the pages together and sold them to students.
I love to help people, especially people who are sick. The money we raised was
donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. There are a lot of people who have a
disease and we wanted to help them. We wanted to do this because we love to
draw and wanted to help people. We would definitely do it again! Thanks to all
who helped make our fundraiser a success!

Modern Rhythms

My friends and I have a dance competition coming up. We each have 5
dances. The girls in our group are Brooke, Ali, Olivia, and Emmersen, along with
Taylor, Bella, Avery, and Gabby and Katherine.
Last year we went to Starbound, which is a national talent competition. Did you
know that the Dance Moms girls danced there too? We think that is pretty cool!!
We have dance on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. We dance on
Saturday sometimes too. Our team works very hard, but sometimes we fool
around! For our last dance competition we came in second place and first place!
Some of our costumes are very itchy. But all of them are very pretty! We are very
excited for our next dance competition. Ali has a duet and Brooke has a trio. We
are prepared for this competition. We take jazz, ballet, tap and lyrical dance.

New York Mets

The New York Mets are my favorite team in Major League Baseball (MLB).
The Mets were founded in 1962 and the full name for the Mets is, the New York
Metropolitans. The Mets have won two World Series (1969 and 1986). The Mets
starting pitchers are Noah Syndergaard, Jacob deGrom, Matt Harvey, and Zack
Wheeler, and Robert Gsellman. The Mets best batters are, Jay Bruce, Yoenis
Céspedes, Lucas Duda, and Asdrúbal Cabrera, Neil Walker, and Michael Conforto.
The Mets head coach is Terry Collins. He coached the Astro’s from 1994 to 1996
and then he coached the Angels from 1997 to 1999. He started coaching the Mets
in 2011. He is 68 years old.
My favorite player is David Wright, but he hasn’t been able to play this season. He
has been moved to the 60-day disabled list. They don’t know when he is coming
back.

Céspedes

Yoenis Céspedes is a professional baseball player. He plays for the New York
Mets. He is a really good batter. Last year he almost won the World Series for his
team.
This year the Mets were close to winning. They have won two World Series in the
past. They do well as a team, and I go to a lot of their games. I think they're the
best team, but my mom tells me, “They're horrible!”
In 2016 there was a great game, and the Mets won. They went on as the wild card
team, but then they lost in the wild card game 2-0. It was still a really good game!
Do you like the Mets? If you like the Mets, then you should go to their games!
Razor Ground Force Drifter

The Razor Ground Force Drifter is an electric go kart. It is made by the company
Razor. It has a top speed of 12 mph. The back wheels are made of plastic so if
you turn while going too fast, you will drift and spin out. It has a flag on the
back. It has a seatbelt so you don’t fall out. It takes 12 hours for it to charge the
battery. The charger is included.
If you buy it you will need to assemble some of it and charge the battery. It has a
brake to stop also. To stop, let go of the throttle and slowly push the brake. It is
2WD. The Razor Ground Force Drifter is cool!

Video Games
Medieval Warfare: REFORGED

Medieval Warfare is a video game series on Roblox, made by Exohda_Cody. In it
there are 4 kingdoms: Nomad, Korblox, Redcliff, and Overseer. Knights fight over
the Outpost and try to take over it. The Nomads have a mine, which people go to
so they can mine ores. They make weapons at their base, which is at the
Blacksmith. You can find rare ores, in the mines, to make new weapons to fight
with.
It’s a good game. It had a new update a month ago. The new update was
remastering it and making weapons more detailed. I’d recommend it to people who
like ROBLOX and like the medieval theme. Exohda_Cody has many other games.
Blox Party is another game by Exohda_Cody.

Wonder Boy and The Dragon’s Trap

I don’t know if anyone remembers the classic Wonder Boy III, The Dragon’s Trap.
Even if you don’t know the original, you’ll love the remastered version, for the
Switch, PS4, Xbox ONE, and PC. It’s about the tales of Wonder Boy/Wonder Girl
on their way to MonsterLand. You can play as a boy or girl, as you hunt for the
Meka Dragon.
Little does your character know, the dragon has powers to curse its enemies. If
you can avoid the curse, and collect the coins that drop after you defeat the boss,
you might have a chance to beat the 2nd boss. If the Blue Fire Curse touches you,
Wonder Boy/Wonder Girl becomes a dragon. If you defeat the 2nd boss you
become….. a mouse.
There are also armors, swords, and shields. You can also switch between Retro,
and Modern styled graphics. You can do the same thing with the music, and SFX.
It’s probably going to be a really long game! I have it and I recommend this to
people who like sidescrollers and adventure games.

Mario and Luigi Dream Team is a dreaming game. In this video game, when Luigi
sleeps, Mario goes into Luigi’s dream. Princess Peach has been kidnapped by
Bowser, and Antasma Dreambert helps you. You all have to save the Pillow Island
and kill Bowser so you can help Antasma to get the Dream Stone.
Skylanders Imaginators

Skylanders Imaginators is a game where Kaos finds an ancient book that teaches
you how to do mind magic. In the game, Kaos uses mind magic to create
henchmen to get rid of you. You then have to use mind magic to create your own
Skylanders to defeat Kaos. This game also lets you play as Kaos! My favorite
Skylander is Ty Quong Crow. Skylanders Imaginators cost $60.

The Legend of ZELDA: Breath of the Wild

Breath of the Wild is the newest Legend of Zelda game, for Nintendo Switch. In
this video game, you still play as Link, but he has been asleep in the Chamber of
Resurrection, for 100 years.
There might be a few spoilers as I tell the story! In this story, Calamity Ganon has
destroyed the kingdom and a few villages. You meet an old man near a campfire.
He will tell you who he is after you complete the 3 other shrines. He also gives you
a paraglider just as he promised. But there are temperatures in the game. If you get
too cold, your HP will be slowly chipped away. You get a “Game Over” if you
reach 3 black hearts. You also need to recover memories, in the game, with a quest
called, Captured Memories. It is given to you by Impa, the ruler in Kakariko
Village. The people there are also called Sheikah. Here is a picture of the Sheikah:
For more you have to play the game! I’d recommend the game to Zelda fans. And
Nintendo switch owners.

Stampede

The Traxxas Stampede is a really fun R.C. truck. Its scale speed is 30 mph and
faster. They make the Stampede in 2wd, 4wd, and vxl. It is priced around $200. I
have it, and when I first drove it, I was amazed by its speed! If you go really fast
the front wheels come off the ground and the truck does a wheelie! I tried doing
jumps on a ramp and it did very well. If you want to drive in snow or deep dirt,
that is where the 4wd comes in! With 4 wheels spinning, it won’t get stuck. With 2
wheels spinning it will get stuck kind of easily. I have the 2wd Stampede. It is
very good quality. You can buy a charger that charges it faster. You will get about
15 minutes of drive time. If a part breaks on the truck you can order more parts
online. Try the Stampede if you like fast R.C. trucks!

Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch is a video game system that lets you play at home on the TV,
or if you need to go somewhere, you can take it with you. I also like that it is
wireless and you don’t need to be attached to a cord to play.
It has an internal battery and charges on the docking station. Soon the Nintendo
Switch will have YouTube and Netflix. Now the Nintendo Switch has games like
1 2 Switch, Shovel Knight, and many more. On store shelves it normally costs
$300. I think it’s very cool. I have it, and I went to a restaurant and played with it
instead of playing with a phone!

Emma Watson

Emma Watson is my absolute favorite actor/movie star in the world! She was born
in Paris, France on April, 15, 1990, but she was raised in England. She achieved
her acting goal when she got the part of Hermione, in the very successful Harry
Potter movie series. The character Hermione, if you didn’t already know, is one of
Harry Potter’s best friends. They are friends in real life too!
After performing in Harry Potter for 12 years, Emma grew up and performed in
The Perks of Being a Wallflower and My Week with Marilyn. Now we all know the
one I’m going tell you about next, Beauty and the Beast. I thought she was
amazing as Belle. So, that’s all you really need to know about Emma Watson and I
really recommend that you watch the Beauty and the Beast movie with Emma!

What’s New in the World of Music?
The Trombone

There are so many trombone players at our school! When you play trombone, It is
a little hard to memorize the notes, because you have to find the right position of
the slide. There are fourteen notes, but only six positions.
The trombone is one of the loudest instruments and it is the fifth hardest band
instrument to play after saxophone, oboe, baritone, and French horn. It is also the
third biggest instrument in the band.
The trombone has three different parts. The mouthpiece is where you blow air in to
make the sound, the slide makes the notes, and the bell makes the sound louder. I
really enjoy playing the trombone!

Food, Recipe, D.I.Y. Section
How to Make Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe

Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe is a 25 minute recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound spaghetti
6 Tbsp. olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp ground black pepper
1 ¾ cups grated Pecorino Romano cheese
DIRECTIONS:
Step one: Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti in the
boiling water, stirring occasionally until tender yet firm to a bite, about 10
minutes. Scoop out some of the cooking water and reserve. Drain spaghetti.
Step two: Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and pepper; cook
and stir until fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes. Add spaghetti and cheese. Ladle ½ cup of
reserved cooking water; stir until cheese is melted, about one minute. Add more
cooking water until sauce coats spaghetti, about one more minute.
After that, you are all done and you can eat it now. Now it should look something
like this:

ASMR

ASMR are sounds that help you relax or sleep. You can search using Safari,
Google or YouTube and you will find that ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory
Meridian Response. Some people are sensitive to certain sounds and these sounds
help to relax them.
ASMR can be sounds like tapping, brushing, hand moving, or scratching, talking
or whispering. When I had trouble sleeping I would watch ASMR role play videos.
ASMR role play shows people whispering or tapping, or making other sounds that
may help you relax.
There is an ASMR YouTuber I watch all the time. Her name is ASMR Glow. She
is really good, in my opinion. She does a lot of role play and regular ASMR. My
sister likes ASMR Darling. I think ASMR is helpful for people who have trouble
sleeping.

Curiosity

Curiosity is a space rover working on Mars. It is 9 feet long. That is the size of a
car. It found some water on Mars. Curiosity was sent into space by NASA. It is
my favorite rover that NASA made.
If the battery runs out on Curiosity, it has solar panels to recharge. It weighs 900
kilograms, which is about 1980 pounds. It has 17 cameras. It was launched on
November 26 2011. It can take pictures and send them to NASA so that the
scientists at NASA can learn more about Mars.
