Climate Project and Rubric

Climate Project
Pretend you are going on an amazing trip to Asia and Africa. You know that your family will want to hear all
about your travels, so you better document your experiences. On your trip you will visit the following places:


Indonesia
Sahara Desert (North Africa)


Kenya
Himalaya Mountains
Choose one of the following projects to document your trip.
Emails: Using complete sentences, type four emails home, one for each of the four locations you visited. Be
creative and descriptive in your emails. Make sure each email includes the following things:
 A greeting
 Name of the specific location you are visiting (a city, a specific landmark, a specific forest, etc.)
 Name of the climate zone you are in (use the world climate map on pages 2-3 along with your
reference atlas to help)
 2 characteristics of the climate zone (chart on page 60)
 1 fact about the vegetation/plant life (chart on page 60 or the map on pages 4-5)
 2 facts about the animal life found there (use the links on the homepage to help you)
 1 way the climate impacted you while you were there (use your brain for this one, consider what
clothes you had to wear, what activities you might have participated in that go along with the climate,
or something else that is appropriate for that location)
 Something fun that you did while you were there
 Closing salutation
Scrapbook: Create a scrapbook of facts and pictures from your trip.
 Create a scrapbook with a cover and 8 pages inside
 Include a title, picture, and your name on the cover of the scrapbook
 Create two pages for each place you visited
 For each location, provide the following facts: (These do NOT have to be in complete sentences)
