Bed 3 An Owners Plan from Fairmont has given this family of five the ideal beginning to their new life in Adelaide to ensure a brighter future. Alfresco Kitchen FRESH START Robe Carport Ldry WC Bath Bed 2 Robe Family words katya sawyer photography nick clayton Meals Robe P eter and Marie John recently returned to Adelaide from Manila with their children Ivy, 17, Christopher, 10, and Damian, 8, to start an exciting new life. “With our eldest, Ivy, about to start university, we thought it would be best to return to Australia with the kids so we could help provide better opportunities for their future,” Peter says. After spending time looking for an existing home, Peter and Marie decided it would be best to build exactly what they wanted, where they wanted and with little fuss. After shopping around and impressed with the development at Seaford Meadows, they bought a unique dual access allotment featuring frontal access as well as rear lane carport access. Peter and Marie decided to go with an “Owners Plan” by Fairmont, who 12 ✂ ✂ magazine then assisted them with a floor plan design that would be the best fit for their land. The formal lounge, study and main bedroom with ensuite and walk-in robe are all located off the front entranceway and can effectively be shut off from the rest of the house – the perfect parents’ retreat. Bedrooms two and three, main bathroom and laundry are located off a separate hallway accessed via the main living area. The main family living areas are all spacious and bright with natural light streaming in from the windows and double glass sliding doors, which access the rear alfresco and garden area. “We especially liked the kitchen arrangement because of its north-facing aspect and view out into the garden,” Peter says. With a family of green thumbs, the rear garden has taken shape as a functional vegetable garden. “Having a rear alfresco area was also very important to us because we wanted to be able to eat outside as often as possible,” Peter says. For entertaining on a larger scale, Peter and Marie opted for a double carport instead of a garage, to help open up the entire rear yard. “We wanted to be able to have this area all opened up and used for entertaining either for ourselves or for our children as they grow up,” Peter says. The family were extremely pleased with the quality of all the trades provided by Fairmont. “You don’t always get the best when you do something like this, but we effectively signed off and left it all to Fairmont and are extremely pleased with the outcome,” Peter says.
