account information sheet, or a question
and answer sheet at your school office. For

Mini Vinnies News
Mini Vinnies would like to thank you for all the donations and money that we raised at the Shrove
Tuesday fundraiser. We are proud to announce that we raised $66.20.
On Thursday 2nd March our school had a visit from Caritas. Naomi and Semeti visited our school
to talk to us and gave us a better understanding of what and where our Caritas Fundraising money
goes to. Semeti is from Fiji and he shared some of his life stories with us. Semeti also told us his
story about when he was 6 years old and he was just waiting to die because of the living
conditions. His government didn’t care and they just laughed when people asked for help. He
didn’t have clean water or food. It was only one day that a person from Caritas told him that they
could make his future brighter. His message is that together we can empower the poor people in
Fiji by giving them the opportunity for a better quality of life.
Fijian Mufti Day
Our Mini Vinnies committee has voted on holding a Fiji Mufti and fun activity day on Thursday 6th April. Children
can come to school wearing Fijian Flag Mufti clothes for a gold coin donation. Mini Vinnies are busy organising fun
events for the Thursday lunch time. Some of these events include: nail polish painting, hair spray, Face painting,
Water bombing and much more. We will have more details after our next meeting.
O’Connor Step Day with Year 6
Last week we went to O’Connor for the first step day for Year 6. When we got to
O’Connor we met the teachers and principal and then split into some groups.
Each group got to learn about some of the subjects that high school students
learn about when they go to O’Connor. The activities that we got to participate
in were cooking smores, playing PE, coding robots and performing musical
theatre.
First we went to music and we learned how to sing, clap and do drama. We had
to pretend to make alien voices which was funny. We then had recess and
played with spheros in stem class. Ryan won the race with his sphero and
Charlie came 3rd. Ty came 4th in his race.
In cooking we had to learn how to make smores. They were made with two
biscuits, marshmallow and chocolate. We got to make them and then eat them.
They were delicious. In sport we played tail tag, parachute and run the
gauntlet. We had a good time playing sport because it was fun getting each
other out.
It was a blast going to O’Connor and we can’t wait to go again in Term 3.
