Using the highest quality natural materials, Sébastien Draux is
proud to present professional timpani mallets. Each pair is
sewn by hand with high-quality German Felt, and each mallet
is handmade.
All of the mallets are made from strong, hand-selected high quality
bamboo that is perfectly balanced and expertly matched.
Each stick is about 38cm long, and each mallet comes fitted with a
European-style handle grip.

The "Philippe PONCET series"
" In collaboration with Sebastien Draux, I was able to develop a series of tympani or mallets which make me happy
every time I play with them. They allow a perfect precision in the attacks, which is so necessary, a great sound projection
and also give to the sound this beautiful warm color that one expects from the use of upscale tympani sticks.
Sebastien is a percussionist himself. Along with him and his "expert ear", we conducted a mutual and passionate
research in order to create them. We spent time together listening to the sound of the mallets, trying to find the best
tension for the felt, the best balance for the handle [...], even when the differences within each tones were minimal… I
believe that Sebastien produces some gems among what is available today on the market as percussion sticks! "

With the perfect balance and a beautiful sound, S.Draux presents the
Jean-Claude Gengembre SIGNATURE series of timpani mallets.
Mallets with felt – JCG 1 to 5 – are hand-sewn with the highest
quality soft German felt.
The core of these timpani sticks consists of material wound in layers
or cork for JCG 3.

Philippe Poncet signature serie
With special cores on hand-selected bamboo shafts, Philippe Poncet
SIGNATURE series of timpani mallets have a bit more weight due
to the dense core - which also gives a direct sound with a lot of
fundamental pitch.
They allow a perfect precision in the attacks, a great sound projection
and also give to the sound beautiful warm color.

This series of 5 timpani mallets are the result of a long research.
The new core of these sticks has been specially developed to obtain optimum attack and the
sticks sound always « full ».
5 sizes are available.

The layers of these flannel timpani sticks are made with new material.
Neither too hard nor too soft, these Flannel sticks are the perfect compromise between the
classic flannels and hard felt sticks.
3 sizes are available : Small Ø30, Medium Ø32, Large Ø34.

Classic series
• F1 and F2
Round and dark sound, which has the preference of German orchestras. The sticks sound always « full »,
without the sound to clap in the biggest fortissimo.
Even the loudest fortissimo passages will not sound sharp and glaring. The core of these timpani sticks is
made of wrapped material (sandwich construction).
• K1
F2 and K2 series have larger sound
K2
These series of classic sticks with cork core will satisfy timpanists who appreciate clear strokes.
Depending on the size, the tone varies from percussive/bright to soft/dark. These mallets have a light
head, so that even with heavy shafts they can be easily used for roll performance as they are well-balanced
and not top-heavy. They can be used with natural or plastic heads to achieve almost any acoustic effect.

The core is made with discs
of wool, cotton, or leather.
The disks are assembled
onto the sticks without
addition within the sleeve,
so as to avoid an accident
during playback.

Reparation and more
All timpani stick will, one day,
require new felt (or flannel).
It is most effective to renew the
Felt whilst the first felt layer still
existing to protect the under layers.
When more layers have to be
renewed it will change the sound to
a greater extent, this is usually not
desired and also changes the
attack.

Replace Felt or Flannel head is
