Element Card 13 • Experimenting with Mixtures, Compounds, and Elements • Lesson 7 Melting Point –249°C Boiling Point –246°C Density Appearance 0.0009 g/cm3 Neon is colorless. Other Physical Properties Neon glows when a high electrical voltage is passed through it. Chemical Properties Neon does not form compounds with other substances and is odorless. Compounds Uses Notes Neon is used in neon signs. Neon is the fourth most abundant element in the universe and the fifth most abundant gas in air. It is obtained from air by distillation of liquid air.
