Schubertiade
Singers’ Master Class with Patrick Leresche
Sunday January 29, 2017
A Schubertiade is an event held to celebrate the music of Franz Schubert. This year Patrick Leresche will
coach the singers from The Hap’ning Place on the beautiful poignant songs they have prepared by Schubert. Later
that evening, they will perform the songs in a public recital at 6:00pm
Swiss pianist Patrick Leresche who graduated from the University of Arts in Bern (Switzerland) with a Master
of Piano in Pedagogy and received a Masters of Performance in Piano Accompaniment with Distinction from the
Guildhall School of Music and Drama will conduct the master class.
Patrick, has been staff accompanist at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama has also written a play about another
famous German composer Robert Schumann. The play based on the letters between Clara and Robert Schumann
was performed at the Reflective Conservatoire Conference 2012 and again most recently in Luzern (Switzerland).
Another project Patrick has been involved with is the theatrically staged "Lads In Their Hundreds", directed by Iain
Burnside. The piece was performed recently at Theatro Technis (London), at The Weekend of English Song in Ludlow
and on a live broadcasting on BBC Radio Three.

Christmas Caroling Contributions 2016
Simply WOW!
The Hap’ning Place Carolers and The Hap’ning Place Fiddle Club performed tirelessly this December to collect for
Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and Marie Curie Cancer Hospice Care.
The singers and fiddlers perform in hour slots at various locations in north London.
Particularly impressive were our Fiddlers who performed by memory for an hour at St Pancras and Great Ormond
Street Hospital. Marvelous!!
Not only did we beat our best collection record from last year, but in only 3 hours of caroling and fiddling for Marie
Curie we raised £1585. 52. That’s about £500 an hour!

“That means overall you have raised an incredible £1,585.52 for Marie Curie! I also thought that you might be
interested to know how much some things cost at Marie Curie to put what you have raised in perspective too:
-
£180 to provide a full 9 hour Marie Curie nursing shift
£130 for someone to attend Day Therapy at a Marie Curie Hospice
£35 for a nurse’s uniform
£20 for one hour of nursing care
£5 for bereavement booklets to support 20 children
£1 for a patient information pack, giving practical advice about our services
“We are so lucky to have your support and I really can’t thank you enough for organising everything.”
Many Thanks from Marie Curie and the Fundraising Team.
Anna Compton was the lucky winner of the chocolate Santa! She came the closest with £1162.
to our amazing total of 1200 for Great Ormond Street!
