KOOL FM Oak Bay Half Marathon Sunday, May 28, 2017 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Windsor Park, Oak Bay (Windsor Park and Newport Avenue) Volunteer time required: 4.5 hours Safety of the runners is the utmost importance during an event. The runners are relying on us to make sure that they have a safe route to run during the event. Before the event, Road Marshals will be assigned to a specific location, usually at an intersection or a place where the root changes direction. While the event is in progress, the Road Marshals will need to make sure that all runners stay on course. At times, Road Marshals may require traffic to be “controlled” so that the runners may pass through without delay. This consists of asking cars to wait or find an alternate routes that do not cross the course route. At high traffic intersections, local law enforcement may be hired to assist with traffic control. Overall we are hoping our Road marshals will be part of the race cheering squad, helping support and motivate the runners from beginning to the end of the race! Let’s show that Santa’s spirit Typically most road marshal stations end by 10:30 a.m. Volunteers gather back at Windsor Park for a complimentary snack, and to watch the 1km Kids Race. Thank you CFAX Santas Volunteers!
