Ferreting away again tomorrow ‘til Monday
(mob reunion!). All my large onions are now
lifted and down to one complete skin then
lotioned
New flag on the plot (St Lucia), small flag cost
me £3. I went on eBay last night and paid for a
full size flag for £3.50 (delivered to local
Argos!), that’s a lesson learnt for next year
Sweet spuds are the same family as the
convulvious (same flower), so I’ve given them a
good watering with a liquid feed
Both grapes doing well in the tunnel on the
plot. Green grapes having more weight on
being a year older vine. I may even thin out
both vines again before our show in a couple
of weeks
Gladioli – the timing is crap again this year for gladi’s! Two raised beds opening all ready…that’s why
the big boys grow hoards
Chilli peppers (indoors) doing well. This is a new one
for me from Gareth Hopcroft (he’s a good egg!) This is
a mild one, the evil ones are yet to fill out! Had one off
the Jays Scorpion (hot), I gave that to our local chippy
to try - he is my guinea pig!!
Tunnel at the top of the garden. Thrips again on my
leeks...I will learn for next year! Biggest pot leek at the
end will be going into the heavyweight class at
Malvern. The strain of leek is Betty Black from Joe
Keeler - I shall be growing these again next year
Greenhouse. I shall have to thin out my cherry toms very soon - half of this lot will come out. Garlic
drying off well...no good to show (split skin on
one of them), although they won’t win
anything they will still be exhibited - all of our
exhibits get auctioned at the end of the show,
no reserves. It works!
