Planted in a sunny spot, it can last for many years. Hawera mixes well with wild tulips such as Bakeri Lilac Wonder and other smaller bulbs. In our opinion it’s one of the great daffodils. It can light up a garden, the entrance to a building, or an entire traffic median. This tulip is beautifully indecisive. Its flowers can be red and rose, amber and rose, or all three at once, the red appearing as wild stripes or speckles. No two flowers are exactly alike. Get it wrong and nothing happens, or maybe too much. Get it right and the colors seem to feed off of each other. This chain reaction of yellow, purplish pink and maroon is all good.
