The number of Academic Championships won in 2010-2011 is outstanding and represents hard
work and academic excellence. A Big Bluejacket thank you goes out to all Cambridge-Isanti
school board members, administration, faculty and staff, for their tremendous efforts to
help educate our students! According to the Minnesota State High School League, the
National Federation of High School Sports, and the American College Testing Service- Participants in Athletics, Activities, and Fine Arts Programs Do Better in the Classroom!
2010-2011 Section and State Academic Team Championships:
- Girls Basketball- gold award, 3.50 GPA or higher
- Football- gold award, 3.50 GPA or higher, Section 8AAAAA Academic
Champions, State Class AAAAA Academic Sixth Place
- Gymnastics- gold award, 3.80 GPA or higher
- Boys Hockey, silver award, 3.30-3.50 GPA

Congratulations to the following:
Our wrestling team coached by Neil Jennissen, John Droubie, Jesse Jennissen, Travis Fuhol,
Tom Campanaro, and Darrell Skog had an outstanding showing at the state individuals wrestling
tournament on Friday and Saturday.
State runner-ups - Travis Holt at 135 pounds and Clayton Jennissen at 171 pounds
State third place- Cody Skog at 140 pounds
State fifth place- Adam Kelling at 145 pounds, Cody Glines at 152 pounds, and Derek Swanson
at 189 pounds
State tenth place- Tyler Tischer at 125 pounds
A special congratulations to our wrestling team for being named by the wrestling coaches association, an academic gold standard team, for a cumulative grade point average of 3.72.
Our boys swimming and diving team coached by Gary Gotz, Karen Anderson, Corey Forslund, and Kelly Brown finished in
18th place as a team on Saturday. Top ten place winners were as follows:
Jacob Berry- fifth in the 100 backstroke and eighth in the 100 butterfly
Jason Codner, David Voller, Ben Nault-Maurer, and Jacob Berry- tenth in the 400 freestyle relay
Also, our boys swimming and diving team is an academic gold standard team with a grade point average of 3.65, Mississippi 8,
and Section 7AA boys swimming and diving academic champions.
Our girls basketball team coached by Jody Ledahl, Jeff Kurowski, Matt Braaten, and Clinton Lundeen advanced to the Section
7AAAA Semifinals by defeating St. Francis on Thursday 51-49 in a real thriller.
The Bluejackets will play tonight vs. Blaine at 8:00 p.m. at North Branch High School. Earlier this week, they were named as
Mississippi 8 academic champions for girls basketball. They also are an academic gold standard team, with a grade point average
of 3.75.
Our boys basketball team coached by Mike McDonald, Jim Lutterman, Travis Turgeon, and Shannon Olson beat Big Lake 44-40
in their last regular season game on Friday. The team will play in the Section 7AAAA Quarterfinals on Thursday, March 10 at 7:00
p.m. vs. Blaine at Blaine High School.
