Heather will put together an order list of 4-5 items to choose from. The Bible passage we have used in the past will be on the back of the shirts. There are still a few volunteer opportunities remaining. Please check in with Mr. Thurow if you are interested. Committees were reminded to use the Berea party book which is located in the work room. Please update the section for your party. Berea athletics has a cross country meet in Eau Claire on September 17th. Basketball will be starting Wednesday practices near the end of October. Watch for announcements in the bulletin. Notes from Mrs. Rehm (Grades 1-4): 2 It was determined to spend some of the carnival money on purchasing smaller shorts and jerseys for the basketball team. 10 neon Berea shirts for preschool and kindergarten field trips will also be purchased. Notes from Mrs. Augustin (Gr. 1-8): 2 Game night has been set for Friday, September 30th starting at 5. Families are invited to bring their supper and a game to play. Notes from Mr. Thurow (Gr. 5-8): 2 A parents night out was discussed for December. More information once details are worked out. Picture Day Monthly Reminders: September Recycling – Lang September 30 is picture day. Forms were sent home in the folder given at the Parent/Teacher Orientation. You do not have to order pictures. All children will be getting their pictures taken for the group composite picture, so please make sure to have them dress nicely for this. You have the option of ordering online at mylifetouch.com (Picture Day ID: MI196011Y0). Family Game Night Friday, September 30 is Family Game Night at the Activity Center. You are invited to bring pizza for your family, beverages, and some of your favorite board games to play. It starts at 5:00. We’ll eat, and then share our board games for the evening. Come and have fun! Page 2 Upcoming Events Wednesday, September 21 Gr K-4 Field Trip: Pine Tree Apple Orchard Friday, September 23 10:30am Field Trip Grades 5-8: Fort Snelling (Lunch McDonald's) School Newsletter Field Trip to Oliver Kelley Farm All students will be taking a field trip to the Oliver Kelley Farm Historical Site in Elk River, MN on Friday, Oct. 7th. The Oliver Kelley Farm is a working historical farm operated by the Minnesota Historical Society. We will be divided into two groups, with the K-4 students topic being “1860’s Farm: Then and Now” and the 5-8 students’ topic being “Minnesota Civil War Farms”. We will leave at 8:30 a.m. and return to school by 2:30. Lunch will be a McDonald’s stop on the way back. If you can help drive for this field trip, please let Mr. Thurow know as soon as possible. Thanks! 7:00pm Lego Robotics Other Field Trips Friday, September 30 Grades K-4 trip to Pine Tree Apple Orchard: Grades K-4 are going to Pine Tree Apple Orchard in White Bear Lake on Wednesday. The drive will take about 35 minutes each way. They will be touring the apple orchard, looking at the bakery, eating apple doughnuts and apple cider, and going on a wagon ride. They are planning on having lunch at McDonalds. Please send lunch money in an envelope or sandwich bag with your child’s name on it. A total of 12 students will be attending. Drivers are welcome to bring siblings. Any students ages 8 or younger must have a booster seat. Please send one that day. Students should wear Berea gear that day. Picture Day 5:00pm Game Night 7:00pm Lego Robotics Saturday, October 1 Recycling: Moen Sunday, October 2 Michael's Birthday Monday, October 3 Upper Grade: 1st Book Review Due Grades 5-8 trip to Fort Snelling: Grades 5-8 will be going to Historic Fort Snelling on Friday morning. They will be touring the fort, which will be populated with costumed guides. Students should wear Berea gear. They will be stopping at McDonald’s for lunch on the way back. Please send money with your child. If you send a lunch, make sure it is in a cooler or insulated bag if items need to be kept cold. Notes from Mrs. Rehm (Grades 1-4): 1. Due dates: Wed.
