AUTO MUSIC MUTE
OFFROAD INTERCOMS
Automatically mutes music during transmitting and receiving
to provide the best in hands-free communications.
MIC GAIN CONTROL
Gain is often mis-perceived as equating to volume. This is wrong. Gain is simply signal
strength. Low Gain helps increase the signal strength while High Gain increases the signal
strength further. High Gain doesn’t necessarily mean ‘better’. Although a high noise
environment may require Higher Gain, it’s important to note that with higher gain comes
higher ‘Signal to Noise Ratio’ which means it will carry a little more ‘noise’ inherant with
electronic equipment.
VOX
You are only transmitting when you speak or reach a specified volume level which is
adjusted with the VOX control on the intercom. This differs from ‘Live Mic’ intercoms where
the microphones are always on. VOX is relative to in-car communications only.
SIDE TONE
You hear your own voice in your headset during transmission so you can adjust and
modulate your voice and volume for best transmission. (It helps regulate those who think
they need to yell to be heard.)
DRIVER ISOLATE
Means the driver is able to isolate incoming audio to his co-driver only, eliminating radio
traffic, so the driver can concentrate on driving.
DSP
Digital Speech Processing. This chip digitally processes your voice in real-time and tunes
out wind, engine, and background noise and adjusts to provide cleaner audio speech.
STUCK MIC INDICATOR
Informs you if you’re constantly transmitting due to a ‘stuck mic’. (i.e. leaving hand mic on
the seat and the button is pressed, dirt or debris caught in PTT preventing the button from
returning to it’s ‘up’ state.)
RF SHIELDED HOUSING
Alloy enclosure reduces RF frequency pollution into communication system by attracting
and containing the magnetic field lines to themselves so they do not seep into transmission
or reception.
