DAY 1 SAT DEC 19: DELHI arrival

9.15am Malindo Air departure from KLIA2.
Arrival Delhi airport 12.15pm. Visit UNESCO
World Heritage Qutb Minar, a 73m high
minaret of red sandstone and marble.
Construction started in 1193, with the fifth and
final storey completed in 1368. Next visit
UNESCO World Heritage Humayun’s Tomb,

burial place of the 2 emperor of the Mughal Empire, completed in 1571. It is the first garden
tomb on the Indian sub-continent. Transfer for dinner. Overnight in Delhi.
DAY 2 SUN DEC 20: DELHI – train to GWALIOR - KHAJURAHO
(B/L/D)
Transfer to New Delhi Railway station to catch your train to
Gwalior. (Shatabdi Express: Dep. 0600 / Arr. 0923) In Gwalior,
visit Scindia Museum inside Jas Vilas Palace (built by Maharaja
Jayaji Rao Scindia in 1874); for its collection of manuscripts,
miniature paintings, weapons, etc.
Then to Gwalior Fort, whose origins date back to more than 1,000
years ago. Inside the fort, visit Teli ka mandir and Sasbahu
temples; Man Singh Palace (including the museum next door),
Jehangir Mahal and Karan Palace. Then drive on to Khajuraho
and check in hotel to overnight.
DAY 3 MON DEC 21: KHAJURAHO

After an early breakfast, go for a guided tour of UNESCO World Heritage Khajuraho; packed
with temples famous for their Nagara-style architectural symbolism and their erotic sculptures.
Most Khajuraho temples were built between 950 AD and 1050 AD by the Chandela dynasty.
The Khajuraho group of temples were built together but were dedicated to two schools of
Hinduism (Shiva and Vishnu) and to Jainism - suggesting a tradition of acceptance and respect
for diverse religious views among Hindus and Jains. The temples are famous for sexually erotic
carvings although these form only 10% of all carvings.
a) Western Group: Laskhmana, Lakshmi, Varaha, Kandariya-Mahadev , Mahadeva, Devi
Jagadamba, Chitragupta, Parvati, Vishvanath, Nandi, Matangesvara temples (subject to time
available, visit Chausath Yogini & Lalguan Mahadev temples located further away)
b) Eastern Group (Jain temples): Parsvanath, Adinath, shantinath, Ghantai, walking through
Khajuraho village to visit Javari & Vamana temples, then to Brahma temple (located besides
Narora Sagar), Hanuman temple (on Basti Road) and Jain Museum (entrance fee included)
c) Southern Group: Duladeo, Chaturbhuja and Beejamandal temples
d) Khajuraho Archaeological Museum (entrance fee included)
Evening at leisure on your own. Overnight in Khajuraho.
DAY 4 TUE DEC 22: KHAJURAHO – UDAIGIRI – SANCHI - BHOPAL

After an early breakfast, transfer to visit Udaigiri Caves, one
of India's most important archaeological sites which were
extensively carved and reworked under the command of
Chandragupta II (Emperor of the Gupta Empire), in the late
4th and 5th century. In Cave No. 5, you will find the iconic
center-piece of Udaigiri, a figure of Vishnu in his Varaha or
Boar-headed incarnation.
Proceed to UNESCO World Heritage Sanchi, where the Great Stupa (Stupa No. 1) is the
oldest stone structure in India and was originally commissioned by the emperor Ashoka the
Great in the 3rd century BC. Its nucleus was a simple hemispherical brick structure built over
the relics of the Buddha. More stupas were built in the area up to 12th century AD.
Your visit of Sanchi covers the following:

c) Temple no. 17, 18, 40 & 31
d) Monasteries no. 45, 47 & 51
e) The Great Bowl

Drive on to Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh state. Check-in hotel to overnight in Bhopal.
DAY 5 WED DEC 23: BHOPAL – BHIMBETKA – BHOPAL

After breakfast, transfer to
UNESCO World Heritage
Bhimbetka Caves, known
for its prehistoric art dating
way back to the Paleolithic
age,
with
the
oldest
examples considered to be
30,000 years old. The art
exhibits the earliest traces
of human life on the Indian subcontinent, and thus the beginning of the South Asian Stone Age.
Drive back to Bhopal and
visit Tajul Masjid, the
largest mosque in India
and explore Old City
Market (chowk bazaar)
for shopping. Overnight
in Bhopal.
DAY 6 THU DEC 24: BHOPAL – flight to MUMBAI – departure flight

After breakfast, drive by Bhopal’s two
lakes, Upper Lake & Lower Lake. Visit
Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav
Sangrahalaya; with open-air exhibitions
based on themes Tribal Habitat, Coastal
Village, Desert Village, Himalayan
Village, Mythological Trail, Traditional
Technology park, etc.
After lunch, transfer to Bhopal airport to catch your flight to Mumbai airport (Jet Airways Dep.
1545 hrs / Arr. 1720 hrs) to Mumbai airport. Then connect with your Malindo Air 10.50pm flight
back to Kuala Lumpur.
