CMES Student Places At LA State Swim Meet Congratulations to Abby Dunford, a fifth-grade student at Copper Mill Elementary School, for her performance at the Louisiana State Swimming Championships. She earned 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals: 200 IM, 50 back, 100 back, 500 free, 4x 50 free relay. She also made her first USA Senior Sectional Time Standards in 50 and 100 back, received her third straight Louisiana All-State Honors, and is already on AAA USA National Time Standards. We are proud of you! ZHS Band Completes A Busy First Semester The Zachary High Band has been on a roll this year, and who knows where it will stop? The band participated in the Dutchtown Marching Festival, Thibodaux Marching Festival, and Northwestern State University Marching Festival this fall. At Northwestern State University Marching Festival, the band and color guard each scored superior ratings, while the percussion section scored an excellent rating. Many of the ZHS students have earned spots in several different honor bands. Congratulations to all! The children and parents rotated between four stations that included STEM activities, computer-based math activities, math in movement, and math in reading using 10 frames and number bonds. CMES Students Enjoy A Visit From Cellist Mr. Unusdian, a Cellist with the Baton Rouge Symphony, recently visited Copper Mill Elementary School. Mr. Unusdian presented his "Best Practices" in Orchestra. NMS And ZHS Students Selected For Honor Choir Congratulations to the students of the Northwestern Middle School Choir and the Zachary High School Choir that were selected by audition to participate in the Louisiana Music Educators Association's All District IV Middle and High School Honor Choirs. Students are pictured with their directors Cassi Doherty and Anna Johnson. ZES Mentors In Action Zachary Elementary Schools Mentors were busy in February performing random acts of kindness. All 800 plus students penned their completed kindness acts to a paper link chain which will be used to form a school-wide kindness chain. The chain will show how we have been spreading kindness throughout the school. Shown is Mrs. Lemoine’s Mustang Mentoring group. Celebrated Authors At RPES On February 10th, parents in Mrs. McNabb’s and Mrs. Jeansonne's second grade classes had the chance to collect the autographs of their favorite authors! The authors of the class book, The Best Part of Me, anxiously awaited their visitors and happily signed all books and answered questions. One parent was even asked by a student, "What's the best part of you?" ZHS Drama Presents Spring 2017 Musical Theatre Kids Camp Campers will perform in the 2017 ZHS Drama Spring Cabaret. ZHS Lady Basketball Is On Fire Congratulations to the Zachary High School Girls' Varsity Basketball Team for advancing to the second round of the playoffs! The Lady Broncos finished on top of Sulphur High School with a score of 53 to 44. The girls will travel to Ouchita High School on Monday, February 20th. The game begins at 6:00 p.m. Good luck girls! Jay Grymes Visits NES Students at Northwestern Elementary School recently visited with WAFB Chief Meteorologist Jay Grymes. Mr. Grymes interacted with the students who shared their knowledge of the weather.
